I've heard a few other threads on here asking about your nick and how you got it. What about what everyone here does for a crust? (Job)

It may have been done before, but i havent seen it so it must be time for another round.

By the way i'm a sparky. (Electrician) Plus part time computer buff (who isnt these days???)

There must be some interesting jobs people are doing out there... lets hear about it!

I did work in the metal shop at Chryslers, but now that i've graduated i'm looking for a job in an Architectural firm.

and Damn finding work is a job in itself

Last week "freelance" graphic artist through one specific company.

This week, unemployed "freelancer". I guess I'm even more of a freelancer this week huh?

I work callout all the time. Tonight is one of those nights. Luckily i've only been out a couple of times... but sometimes i just dont see the point in going to bed early - the chances of getting called out are too high. Hence its 2am here and i'm still on the puter!

manager, small hotel. that's just my day job though...

I avoid it at all costs - and I have been pretty successful this summer. But fall is coming around and the bank accounts are getting low, so unless I choose to cash out some mutual funds (which would be really stupid of me to do right now) I guess I can't avoid it much longer.

So, I guess I will have to put on my Software Engineer costume and slog through the rainy winter. One of these springs, the money I spent exercising my stock options will hopefully blossom and I can be unemployed full time - doing what I like best; ESFRRR (Eat Sleep Fuck Ride Read Repeat).

Anybody need an experienced Java/C++ fluent engineer in the Pacific NW??

You know if i didnt have this dam puter i think i'd be closer to the mark. I could make more money that way. Instead of killing valuable time reading this. But alas its too late - i'm already an addict!

It's a beautiful thing. I'd be on here 24/7 though if I wasn't expected to do the cleaning, laundry, and cooking.
Ah, the nerve of that man! Works all day and expects a clean house, warm bath, fresh boxers, and a hot meal when he comes home!

I am one of those lucky college students that don't really have to work. I got accepted to my college on a full scholarship so I work part time at a museum here in Philly (the Franklin Institute for all those in the know). I'm the girl who takes all the little kids who are on class trips all around the museum. I actually love it, kids are so cute.

Lilminx i agree with lavender

I was kind of in the special ed class through grade school, i know the shit you have to put up with.
I respect someone that can be calm with troubled kids.

i'm a management consultant by day and dj by night

Wow- thank you so much Lavender and Fly_On_Wall. I actually teach in an inclusion class, which means that I have kids with and without disabliities in the class. There is also another teacher in the class (required for inclusion classes) but I'm the special ed teacher. I actually enjoy some of the kids with disabilities more than the ones without them. Strange but true.

What spins me out is how you have a premeditated view of a person by there nick and avatar.

I would not have picked you either "lilminx" as a teacher??? Why??? now theres another question...

Why what? Why am I a teacher? Because I can't make it as a rock star or an actress... :)

I sell books for a living, I also tutor people in writing.

Plus go to school full time and help teach a martial arts class.

hey i have no problem with your choice of job. In fact i think its great. Kids out there need people who enjoy and are dedicated to helping them.

All i'm saying is that i wouldnt have picked you for being in that proffesion. But then if you were to ask me what i though you might have done i wouldnt have been able to answer anyway!

ps. I still have a crush on my grade one teacher... she was so hot... who would of thought a six year old would notice!!!:D

I wasn't getting offended :) Believe me, I get "Wow- I can't believe you're a first grade teacher" and "I wish my first grade teacher had looked like you!" all the time- lol. And every year I get at least one little boy in my class who says he's going to marry me when he grows up- I think it just goes with the territory...

I'm a miner/metalsmith/gem cutter/jewelery designer/and occasional geological land survey man/ and a weekend support manager at an Anal-Mart.{Wal-Mart}

I can't go into what I do, but I can tell you some of the things I did...

I once worked in a circus show. My job was to clean out the tiger cage between performances. Really. No shit.

What do I do? Or what am I supposed to do?

I teach social studies (duh like we couldn't tell) to 10 through 12th graders. If I told you more you could figure out at what school and I would get into trouble. Bible belters don't like their teachers on boards such as these.

I am supposed to teach college level psychology and sociology, with a history class thrown in. But I was laid off and moved to a new part of the country that actually has people living in it.

I was laid off when Uncle Sam closed the military base in our town. We lost a hell of a lot of people in less than a year. Maybe you saw it, it was the base they held the last Woodstock at. The one where they had the nice little bon fire. Thank god I was already gone.
