... would be best for the following hypothetical story:

Happy, loving couple... potentially witty dialog, depending on one's definition of "witty", I suppose... much erotic chatter and then a quick, tasteful fuck between said loving couple, depending on one's definition of "tasteful"... discussion of a potential real-life erotic adventure, involving a certain well-endowed colleague, and then implementation of said adventure... long, graphic oral sex scene between loving girlfriend and colleague, through an old-fashioned glory hole, while loving boyfriend applies gentle caresses and encouragement... long, graphic intercourse scene, same as above... long, graphic anal sex scene, same as above... And all of this, of course, very tastefully done. No animals were injured in the making of this story...

There's just a great deal of sex, I guess, but it's not really a group and it's not just the happy loving couple... So what category might fit? God knows I don't want to annoy anyone. The "anal" portion occupies only about 10% of the story, same for the "oral". There's probably way too much dialogue, too. (But oh dear god, dear sweet lord... it got me wet to write it.) Does "Erotic Couplings" make sense? The "Group" category always makes me think of gang bangs (not that there's anything wrong with that!), and this is very different.

I always seem to write things that don't fit nicely into a category. I'm sure everyone else feels the same, so I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts...

Avoid Erotic Couplings - there are many, many stories there - yours could easily become lost.

The Anal category could easily work, especially if it is a long graphic anal sex scene.

Most of my stories could fit into more than one category, in the end it is really whatever makes you happy!

No, they're not married... and I know that "Erotic Couplings" gets tons of submissions, that's why it worries me!

I'm happy with anal (long pause...), but would it generate any backlash if readers discover the "anal" portion is only the last few pages? I happen to think they're really good pages, although maybe I'm biased...

Oh, I'll just use "Anal". If people like the story they won't care anyway.

If it does worry you, you could always make the couple married - if that would work for you.

As to length of scene, the last story I submitted that went into the anal category just had it at the last part of their sex also - it works!

And I know I *could* say they're married, but I don't want to! Seems like cheating... And besides, I think people expect the "Anal" stories to be more graphic anyway.

Put it in the category you feel comfortable with. If you receive overriding feedback that it is in the wrong category, you can always change it. And, for most of us fans of anal, if anal is included anywhere in the story, it's a good thing!

I would like to add something, though, about Erotic Couplings. I have avoided this category like the plague, having submitted only one story to it. It still has not received a lot of views, however, when people read my new stuff and then go back to read stuff I've done before, they always check out that one story. Readers might be attracted to Loving Wives, but they might not care for Anal, but they will check out an Erotic Couplings story. I wouldn't be so quick to shoot down the EC category. You might not get a lot of views or votes, but I think the stories have better staying power.

Thank you SexyChele! I really do like the category title itself, "Erotic Couplings" -- it just sounds promising to me. Maybe if there was a whole new category: "Erotic Anal", or maybe "Erotico-graphic steamy literary cum-fest".

Don't I know! My last story was in that category (two sisters), and I hesitated on that one too because it seemed more like an "Erotic Couplings" story to me! Or maybe "Loving Sisters", if there was such a thing. But it got tons and tons of views and votes, shocked the hell out of me... pleasantly.

The only problem I have now is with another story, where my main character is an actual cat. Sort of. Maybe the new category should just be "Sarah's fucked up category".
