Christmas will soon pass by....Anyone have any plans yet for New Year's Eve?

Anyone plan on doing any traveling to a particular place to celebrate the New Year?

I am having a get together at my place with a group of friends. If I had a babysitter.....I would love to be in Las Vegas bringing in the New Year.
Visiting Rubyfruit in Reno, would be fun too!:D

*Wishing everyone, a safe and happy holiday*

SIGH...

I know exactly where and with who I want to be with on New Year's Eve, but since that isn't going to happen....

I will be in California with my brother. I have no idea what his plans are.

Dinner & dancing at the club here in retirement city. Will be with wife of 33 years and need to work at enjoying being with her. Hopefully we can get our meds. straight and soon have a life.

SummerRose,

I'm not much of a New Year's Eve Party person. There is something about letting the past year leave quietly for me. Maybe it stems from being forced, for many years, to go to parties where I didn't feel comfortable - not really sure.

I'll be driving home on that day from visiting my family for the Christmas holiday. It's a very long and tedious drive through the mountains and I'll just be hoping and praying the weather is fine.

MacCortz,

I have a feeling you're already on your way to making that happen. I'll be thinking about you and wishing you a wonderful New Year's Eve and hoping the coming year is very kind to you.

Cassidy,

Somehow, you'll be where you want to be inside your heart.

I think we will

just go to the local club to start the night out... then come back to my place for a while. If that is what everyone decided they want to do anyway... We haven't really discussed it yet.

At a dance. First up a bottle of cabernet sauvignon, followed by a shiraz and, if still awake, a good pinot noir.

Happy Hogmanay!!

My New Year's plans is my friend's annual party.
Great food , all we can drink , and lots of games and mayhem.
The usual...:)

Sounds like you are coming to my house!:D
That about sums up my plans for my get together.

Working, of course

Work: curse of the drinking class. Holiday work's the downside of the "service industries." So I'll be ferrying home the drunks--hopefully the ones so drunk they over-tip will outnumber the one too drunk to remember to tip.

New Year's Eve in CT

I don't have set plans yet for New Year's Eve.....but I
am happy that I am off that day AND New Year's Day! :)

Most likely I'll be with a friend or friends for that night....

I remember for last year to ring in '01, I went to Times
Square in NYC.....what an experience!!! I am glad I went
last year because this year I feel iffy going there with all
that's happened...but who knows?

We'll see!

Thanks for the kind wordsand thoughts. May you have a great new year!

Here at home, same as every year. We have an open door policy on New Years. Come on in, help yourself to food and drink. Play games, chat, catch up. Have fun. If you want to leave fine, as long as you haven't helped yourself too much to the drinks part. See, the only rule is you hand me your keys when you walk in the door.
If I don't feel like you can drive, you aren't going anywhere. It usually winds down around 1ish as many of us are retail and work the next day.
Whatever you do, and where ever you are, have fun, stay safe and tip big.

Absolutely nothing because we couldn't get a sitter.

I wouldn't mind entertaining SummerRose and a few others here though. The kids eventually do go to sleep. ;)

I can be there in 5 1/2 hours!;)

*Fly, you can always come visit me!*

I'll be spending new year's in a very quiet way. I have been invited to a friend's house out in the country for a small get together for eight.

For a city kid like me, the prospect of being out on 200 acres riding his horses drinking appeals to me. He has a new one just purchased from the RCMP (that's Royal Canadian Mounted Police - the Dudly Do Right people). He says its a great story on how that all happened. I'm a sucker for good stories!

Las Vegas would be wild, with our corporate HQ having moved there maybe I'll put it on my list for next year ....

Hell, I don't know!

This is my first New Year's as a single since I was 17 ... yikes.

I have a few options: family party, go up to the Lit house, or a party at my friend's house.

Hell, I don't know!

Vegas is a trip on New Year's, Darren. You should try it at least once. It's extremely crowded though.

Have fun in the country - that sounds wonderful.

So far I have no plans whatsoever.

I may end up at a friend's house for what's normally a rather sedate affair. But it's always funu because my friends are there. They haven't said anything, so I don't know if there's a get-together or not.

So, right now, not a thing. I'll probably be home with a couple of beers. :)

I had plans for New Years that were months in the making but they're not going to come to pass, now. So i'll be doing nothing except trying not to think about what could have been. I'll probably be doing that here, actually, and i'll probably be doing that while depressed.

We will spend a quiet evening at home. I have to work on New Year's Day, another retail day for me. I hope everyone has a safe & Happy New Year!!!

Times Square resident

I have been invited to a small gathering at one of my close friend's apartment. It's her first official party, but unfortunately for me, it appears to have turned out to be a "couples" event.

Anyway, my heart will be elsewhere, but I may just head cross-town to the party, which will distance me a bit from the Times Square area. Depending on how strongly my heart DOES feel at the time, I may just decide to settle on the couch with some wine and watch Dick Clark.

Sit on my ass drinking champagne, watching Dick Clar. The usual.

I'll be doing something similar to you, darren, but in a Twilight Zonish way. Mr. Mischka and I (and Never? I don't know yet) are heading to a ranch somewhere in Texas (I really don't know where it is. Somewhere in the middle, I think). Turns out that some good friends of ours now know some old acquaintances of ours from undergrad days. The acqaintances are extraordinarily brilliant and quirky types; the physicist of the group was convinced that the Millenium bug would cripple the civilized world, so he bought a tract of land in the middle of nowhere so he could ride out the technical snafus away from his normal urban setting. When the world peacefully made it through the Millenium, they looked around, decided they liked where they were, built a ranch, and have lived there ever since. So now a whole bunch of us are going out there to ring in the New Year. If this party is anything like the ones of years past, I may need several days to recover.
