Non-consent and humor and satire from this lot. Powerplay games are attractive to me, both sides of the equation, and some of the best writing can be found in humor and satire, like Jenny's Shika adventures - Which is labelled Sci-Fi/Fantasy, but I think it's humor and satire of the highest order.

There's a slight problem or imbalance involved with gathering stats about what male readers like to read about in erotic stories. I've found the best sex (biggest orgasms) are had when you devote yourself with a transcendental single mindedness to your lover's ultimate pleasure. Of course, the most interesting sex involves two or more people, which means both partners (or even multiples, I suppose) do things for each other, making both lovers receivers and givers of pleasure. However, in more clinically biological or primal terms, the female is the receiver of sex and the male the giver. The greatest fantasies for both are the woman's fantasies. Give the female the most complete satisfaction possible, and the best sex is achieved for both partners. For example, I've never been very fond of BDSM or anal sex, but if my lover said she wanted me wearing a collar and leash while I give her one in the backside, I can assure you I would suddenly be having fun trying both again. If I'm correct in this, shouldn't we be guided more by the female's sexual preferences than the male's?

There are 32 categories and each poll can only have 10 options. Even to get them reduced to only two polls I had to join some in the same entry, and discarded the categories that don't have any meaning with regard to theme (which was the real purpose), namely Chain Stories, How To, Illustrated, Letters & Transcripts, Novels & Novellas, Reviews & Essays, Audio, Non-English, Non-Erotic.

From my point of view, there are three basic problems with your assertion.

One has to do with sex amongst humans having evolved far beyond the reproductive cycle.

Another, is that when you consider sex without romantic implications, I believe selfish men tend to be better lovers. They're prepared to invest in the woman's pleasure so that they can collect an ever bigger dividend for themselves. No pure 'giver' can compete with that sort of drive, from my experience.

Finally, this about what stories men enjoy reading about.

Well, I picked Lesbian Sex in this poll, and I gave it a bullet. That is, I refrained from voting in any other category.

Loving Wives is popular, but I would recommend that the powers that be at Lit create a new category called Cheating Wives since about half the stories in the Loving category seem to be about the missus stepping out on her old man.

NonConsent / Reluctance is my biggest category of choice.

Once again, though, it's not so much about the category for me, it's about the level of tension in the story. That's why I generally choose based on author rather than category. I tend to write some crazy-perverted stuff though, and that's the kind of stuff I tend to read.

Finally, my real life has nothing to do with my stories or the stories I read. The truth is I have plenty of romance in my real life, and I like it that way, but for that reason I have next to NO interest in the romance category as a reader (there are always exceptions, however).

Everyone wants to get something different out of the stories they read. For some it's a taste of beautfiul idealism, for some hyper-reality, and for some it's pure stroke fantasy. For me, it can be all of the above mixed together into something that transcends the category its in.

But--as the poll says, given category alone--I'll generally take nonconsent / reluctance.

I voted for non-consent on the other thread, with the assumption that it means NC/Reluctance, as the category now is. A story of a reluctant woman who is persuaded to indulge, and really enjoys herself is one of my favorites, either to read or to write about.

I would have voted for anal and E/C on this thread but, for some reason, the voting seems to be closed. That is, I can see the results, but not the places where I might vote.

I write and submit in several catagories, but when it comes to reading I tend to stick to loving wives, interracial, and erotic couplings. Mostly I guess reading or liking to read stories about wives and husbands and different ways they work (or don't work) together, as brought out by various other authors.

I have written in incest, erotic couplilngs, loving wives, interracial, and lesbian catagories as well as humour too. My best stories score wise have been the incest ones, which strangely enough are the most difficult ones for me to write since I have no inclinations that way. (well, once I had a beautiful cousin and she was quite...um...forward...but we never did anything much at all, but that is a whole nother story.)
