Or rather what are your political leanings? I really don't know what I am. A couple of years ago I would have said Democrat no doubt about it. Now? I don't know.

Income taxes? Abolish them.

Death penalty? Kill 'em. Just go about it expeditiously.

Guns? Get rid of them.

Environment? Preservation & conservation in general but lets use some common sense please.

Welfare? Not from the government. Family, friends and charities can take care of the people who need help.

Drugs? Legalize them.

Abortion? Pro-choice.

Prayer in school? If you want.

Big business? Definitely needs to be regulated.

Does that make me liberal, conservative, a democrat or a republican or something else? Where do you fall in the political spectrum?

You have a few in there that, in some eyes, are extreame, but I would say you are none of the above. You are obviously not democrat but, I highly doubt the G.O.P. platform would suit you.

I am a woman, to start, and I go by what is in the best interest of my family, my community, my nation, and my world. If that doesn't fall into a slot... oh well.

I never liked being labled, but if I had to, I'd say I am a moderate with a huge existential leaning toward the 'reasonable' more than the extream, self serving tendancies major parties actions begin to reflect when they amass a certain number of political factions with special intrest. Even groups like Greenpeace, and Earth First, R.J. Renoyld (Jesse Helmes buyout, like that wasn't easy??), and even as retarted as Dow chemical is, regardless of thier known affiliation with breaking EPA standards, with extream disregard, and walking away paying pennies on the dollar, change in their pocket, in all of the 14 Florida lawsuits against them. Their lobbists are actually heard, and paid attention to? Bastards.

Anyway, EBW called me a Populist, and he's probably right.
A Populist is one who supports the rights and the power of the people, and their struggle against the elite.

Maybe I am a moderate Taoist, new ager, populist with a twist of lemon. No color added.

Libertarian Republican

my motto: Leave people the fuck alone to do what they want whether they hurt themselves or not. The best thing the state can do is give everyone the best education possible to start out with then get out of their lives unless they fall into extreme problems.

Guns are not the problem, neither is heavy metal, rap, or Freddy Krueger. Get to the core of the matter which is the development of huge schools and crappy parenting. You can't do much about the parenting, that stems from vanity and obsession with working for more and more material gain (much of the time) But you can help the schools.

For the love of everything free and good, let people smoke!

I have more but I want to move on

Welfare? Not from the government. Family, friends and charities can take care of the people who need help.

Drugs? Legalize them.

Abortion? I am not pro choice as a way for birth control. I've seen pictures of babies from abortion, yes I call them babies. It makes you sick.

Prayer in school? If you want.

Big business? Definitely needs to be regulated., but am for capitolism.

Hmmmmmmmm, well damn, what a way to start a Monday. You are so sweet.;)

I'm a guy with a lot of different opinions. Never really understood why people put themselfs under 'labels' based on certain things they believe in. So I just have my opinions. But I'll tell you one thing: I'm no conservative.

 That is rude. Are you implying anything about anyone specifically? Because it seems that way, but I could be/ and am oversensitive.

i deeply apologise, starfish..i enjoy very much talking to you....i was just very happy to see uc...will keep sensitivities in mind with future comments!

Income taxes? Fairer than most other taxes, but simplify them dammit.

Death penalty? For certain crimes, inject them after 2 appeals

Guns? Don't own one and don't want yours, so keep it locked up and we'll have no problems.

Environment? Preservation & conservation in general but lets use some common sense please.

Welfare? On a limited scale and ONLY for a specified period of time. If you have another child, the original cut off date still stands.

Drugs? Just Say No. (yep, probably Pollyanna, but legalizing them isn't the answer either.)

Abortion? Pro-Life personally, but I wouldn't take away your choice.

Prayer in school? Every day, at least 10 times a day, some days it's more, some less.

Big business? Ask the economists.

My views haven't changed much since college and in one class, we did a survey that was supposed to tell you which party your views was more compatible with. I was dead center with an equal number on either side.

Income taxes? Flat tax of 10% on singles making 125,000, and couples making 250,000. The rest from a national sales tax.

Death penalty? Give them some mindless government job they can do from their cell. They probably have a higher IQ than most government workers. Pay 5$ a week and give the rest to the victims.

Guns? Mandatory gun ownership and education.

Environment? God gave us dominion over the planet. More US exploration before oil is worthless.

Welfare? Sterilization of any woman who has two kids on public assistance.

Drugs? Might as well legalize and tax it. Use profits for treatment centers.

Abortion? up to the woman.

Prayer in school? A minute of silence perhaps. A national lottery to fund a prep "Hope" scholarship similar to Georgia's. Scholarships given for grades 1-12. 9-12 must maintain a B average. Half the money would go to the failing government schools to make up for lost students.

Big business? must exist because of economy of scale. Create a friendly environment for small business and Entrepreneurs

Thanks everyone but I still don't know what you are. What label fits you the best? How would you describe your views?

Took me till now to remember what thread this was at!! eerrrrrererere!

I never said thank you for noticing, and replying. (You saw my 'overly sensitive' disclaimer, right? :) )

Tabby,

What's this?

"Moderate Taoist, New ager, Populist with a twist of lemon. No color added."

Republican.... no hesitation..... the label fits

Income taxes? Replace the progressive income tax with a national sales tax, to be collected by the states and forwarded to Washington. Exempt food and shelter from the sales tax. Tax internet sales just like all others.

Death penalty? Unfortunately necessary.

Guns? They're cool. Inforce existing laws.

Environment? Effectively manage resources for long term benefit to the most people. There are more trees in the U.S. now than when the pilgrims arrived.

Welfare? Turn it over to the states -- COMPLETELY! Let the states compete for the best management of the available resources. If Wisconsin wants to provide more generous welfare benefits, then let them. And let Texas pay for the bus fare for welfare recipients to move to Wisconsin.

Drugs? Decriminalize marajuana, then enforce laws against other drugs. Use tax revenues from the sale of marajuana to enforce other drug laws and provide drug treatment and education.

Abortion? It's none of the government's damn business.

Prayer in school? A non-issue.

Big business? Free them up to create jobs. Inforce reasonable anti-trust laws. Give them some protection from ridiculous lawsuits, by clipping the wings of tort lawyers. Let injured parties benefit from liability claims NOT the lawyers.

Education? Decentralize it to the states. Eliminate national regulations and funding from the federal government. Let each state make their own decisions regarding vouchers, funding and school taxes.

I am pretty much of the mind that I will vote for whomever I feel will suit my needs. I alway thought I was a democrat but now that I actually pay attention I am mostly Republican. Besided I am posative that Gore would have gone on a Enviromentel binge. Did you ever read his book. Holy cow!! Of course I don't like the whole drilling for gas in a National park side either. but someone had to take the steam out of the Seirra Club. Not that they don't do good they are just getting too big for there britches. Wouldn't it be nice if both side had to tell you the Truth!

Income taxes? Flat Percent of Income

Death penalty? Kill 'em. Just go about it expeditiously.

Guns? Regulate them but Keep them

Environment? Preservation not Museamism. Public Lands for the Public not From the Public

Welfare? To a piont with limits

Drugs? Actaully Depends on the Drug.

Abortion? Pro-choice.

Prayer in school? If you want.

Big business? Definitely needs to be regulated.

I guess I'm a Libertarian. I've always called it "Rational Anarchy". My philosophy is basically that every individual should be legally able to do whatever they choose that does not cause direct, intentional, and unnecessary harm to another. On the reverse of that coin, everyone should be 100% responsible for the consequences of their actions, with no recourse or fallback. No one should be protected from their own stupidity, and no one should have to pay for someone else's mistakes.

Of course, that's a perfect world I'm describing, in which everyone's self-interest serves to help the human race as a whole, rather than destroy it. Responsibility, again, is key to making something like that work. In short, it'll never happen in the real world.

I hate politics.
I have never voted and I never intend to either.
