Sweet onions, garlic, tomato paste, san marzano tomatoes, salt, pepper, crushed red peppers, herbs, ground beef or sausage or both.


Ricotta cheese, mozzerella cheese, parmesan cheese and eggs.


The lasagna noodles, heated up in boiling water with salt and oil.



Edited to add: Sugar as well in the marinara sauce and sometimes red cooking wine

I like it with ricottta and mozzarella. Here, it is made with a cheese sauce (sometimes just a bechamel sauce). It can be quite sloppy

I see that on cooking shows to make: make a roux(butter and flour), milk or cream, add chesses of your liking, a little salt and pepper I think. I haven't made bechamel sauce, but made different cheese sauces before.


If I want some spanish flavor, I add my homemade sofrito to the marinara
