Do you have a favorite color? How long has it been your favorite? Has that changed over time?


My favorite color is purple. I remember when I was “younger” and people would always ask my favorite color. I’d often say black . I didn’t actually feel strongly about any color. Then at one point, maybe high school, I saw purple like I’d seen it for the first time. I realized that people actually have favorite colors and that they weren’t all just making it up for sake of answering the question. And I still love it! Any time I see something purple I want it a little bit more.
I’m curious if other people have had experiences like that.

Mine is a deep emerald green or a deep teal.
1. Those colors just speak to my soul. I like most colors (fuck off orange) but those two just do something happy to my brain.
2. Due to my hair, skin and eye color, I look best in jewel tones and I gravitate to those in my clothes.
3. When I was ... in middle school I think? I was at a sleep over with other girls and took a shower and wrapped my hair up in an emerald green towel (it was the 90s) and the mom of the sleepover told me I should wear green more because it made my eyes look very pretty. I was maybe 11 and that has stuck with me for decades.

My favorite color is purple too!!!
I saw a cobalt purple glass vase once, it was so dark it was almost black! But in the light, it was just dark purple ....
Black is my second favorite.

Like most “favorite” things I learned early on that telling people them meant a Christmas or birthday of nothing but those things. Which at be a function of my family being unoriginal but whatever.

I hear that some northern peoples have hundreds of words for snow. I have about that many for hot weather!

As a kiddo my favorite color was purple
my favorite color now is pink
I'm not entirely sure when that changed but I think somewhere around middle school... probably puberty actually
I still love purple... but pink takes a slight lead these days

Midnight Blue. It has always been my favorite color, even before I knew it was called that. Something about that dark, inky blue was right up my alley. Even when I was a kid, I told my mom I didn't want to wear pink, purples, magenta, etc. But I'd wear whatever she'd buy me in that shade.

July 6th is 4 years since my husband passed... It's ok to go numb. It's ok to be angry... Trust that however you cope, is ok.
