Bit late in the reply, but have you checked to see whether their insurance (or even Medicare or Medicaid) offer rides to appointments? They do in many areas! Of course it may be a different story if you need to actually accompany them inside their appointments as a patient advocate and/or to receive care instructions or ask questions about things they may forget.

Yeah, I do need to go into the appointments as well... between the hearing loss and memory loss... they need someone there with them.

Normally I would say wait until after you start. But after having tried to hire recently, I think these days most companies will deal with it if you're a good worker. We can't get people to show for interviews and we even hire felons/functioning addicts, etc. And yes, we pay a decent wage for the work.
