Finally started listening to Lord of the Rings read by Andy Serkis (movie Gollum) earlier this week and it is a revelation! I usually prefer to read with my eyes, unless there’s an exceptional voice. Serkis has that benefit and more! JRRT’s historical and genealogical tangents are so much better when read by him. As much as I love the movies, and particularly the extended editions, I admit the book was a bit of a slog for me, and I normally love reading. I see Tolkien as more of a world-builder than a storyteller, and Jackson did an amazing job of bringing that world to the screen without bogging us down with convoluted details. Apparently Serkis is much more adept making the details conversational than the voice reading in my head. Or maybe it’s just more enjoyable when I can zone in and out instead of having to reread a half-page sentence 3 times to process it? Either way, it’s nice to hear the details in a more passive way without feeling like I’m having to study and memorize every detail.

I've always gotten rid of mine with eating a Tums, waiting a minute or two then holding my breath.

I can always get rid of mine by taking a deep breath and then drinking water before letting the breath out. I think it gives the diaphragm a chance to relax.

I swear, before i discovered the upside down cup thing i tried sooooo many random methods. And nothing ever worked! I’d get them for a long time, too. Then a friend taught me the cup and it works every time.
I’m excited about this straw though. So much easier.

But only if I’m at home where the straw is
