I think you’ve got that backwards. At the beginning is the prologue. The epilogue is at the end of the book.

Well, my ex used to read the end of the book first to see is it was worth reading.

The original topic was do people read the epilogue, because someone had told the author they didn't read them because they were boring.

I wondered if they started in the middle of a book, as well.
