Thanks! That makes me feel better that you're a woman, too... it's unfortunate, but it's reality that some things can hit differently coming from men and women at work, especially with things like caregiving outside work... I ended up sending an email to the recruiter, now I just wait! The job is for a healthcare system, so theoretically, they should be flexible for things like this, I would think.



I will definitely if this turns into a permanent job... right now as a temp, I don't think I'd be eligible even if I'd been there long enough. But thank you for the reminder!



Which sucks.... I kind of get that - they don't want people out too much when they're just learning a new job, but like you say, new employees are still people with lives outside of work!

I'm a woman (I just joke about having a dick) but I think it's awful that corporate culture has made allowing you time to take parents to doctor appointments seem like a "favor" a company is doing for you.

My kids and parents come first. Doctor appointments are often months out to book. Some companies will allow you to go into negative PTO or will give you a certain amount right when you start. This is what you should ask the recruiter about.

How much time will you need off? Is the job something that you can do on your own hours where you can make up the time later or earlier on during the day? The other option if it's an excessive amount of appointments is to ask if you can have a later start date (explain why and maybe they will accommodate you.)

The bottom line for me is this ... Even new employees are human beings who may have responsibilities outside of work. Companies I want to work for are not companies who think they should always come first no matter what.

Me and @OrdinaryPerson may disagree on a lot of things (such as whether she really has a dick or just a 10" clit), but she's bang on the money here @cheekygirl75 ...

My best friend and I sold them every Christmas at the mall. Technically we were Brownies, not Girl Scouts, but same setup, same cookies. The memory always feels cold but warm at the same time, I like the juxtaposition.

It's meaning only has to be clear to you. Not wishing to be rude (but I'm going to anyway) anyone who thinks they have a right to understand the meaning behind tattoos can fuck right off.

I made my tattoo deliberately vague so most people see one thing, but people who know me know what it actually means and represents.
