When I was a kid, my mom would say things like “your father is such an asshole,” and would hate it when I reminded her that she’s the one who picked him, not me. It’s true though, and worth bearing in mind.

You're right, of course.

I fully admit that it was my choice to marry and have children with her. If it makes you feel better: in many ways I chose poorly. And now I must live with that choice. And vent online to strangers about it.
