The ignore feature works to a point. It's one thing to ignore a nuisance, it's another to try and stop someone who crosses the line into harassment. In the case of the latter, one would hope the report feature is there for a reason.

The ignore feature is great. I've only had to report one person to Laurel. She made it plain to the misogynistic AH that if he continued his threats, he would be banned permanently. Generally, the ignore feature is the best solution to assholes on Lit.

It is there for a reason, yes. If you assumed this was directed at you… it was not. The owner of this site would tell (and has told) many, many people who file reports to use the ignore feature.

Yes, I’ve asked if there’s a blocking feature as that would be preferable for so many reasons. I don’t think it’s an option.

And it works soooo much better on the upgraded forum, too.

The ignore feature and the report feature are both needed in a public space like this. They work well here for those that use them. If somebody posts a video of themselves wanking on the what are you doing now thread, I know that I can report it and it will be taken down (pretty quickly too).

I personally don’t use the ignore feature. I don’t want my screen to show lots of ignored content messages and I find it does ruin some of the game threads when other people post who clearly have the previous poster on ignore.

People should also be more aware of their own behaviours and while they see nothing wrong with how they behave, if lots of people are saying it is inappropriate (or the public threads are not the place for it) then they should take that on board.

If it isn’t how you would behave in the real world in public, then don’t behave that way in a public space online. That ranges from getting your dick out and waving it around, or pressing your tits up against the window on public transport, to over the top public displays of affection.
