There is no way to say what the GB should or shouldn't be.

It is a mish mash of stuff that doesn't belong elsewhere.

I kind of like it that way.


I even enjoy the trolls and flame wars.

I tend to agree with you here MissTaken,... except I never get involved in troll wars, rarely ever post other than the GB, and generally just drop in when I can to "unwind" from the end of a long workaday lifestyle so that I can just maybe get 4 hours of sleep... just to do it all over again.

In other words... this place has become my "Cheers" of sorts...

I come home from work, read interesting posts, reply to a few, have a drink or two and then it's off to bed. Can you tell by now that I work the vampire shift? I leave at dusk and return home at dawn... spicy work life, just like here...

This hodge-podge of topics is what endears me to the GB and to Lit.

when you visit the General Board?

So much complaining about the content of the the GB leaves me wondering what it is exactly that you are looking for? No, I think I should ask this both ways, so...what do you not want to see? (Aside from the baby trolls, ofcourse.)

Also, do you really feel you have a right to complain, and do you feel that contributing to the board in some way entitles you to certain rights? (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm in a hurry and couldn't think of a better way to put it.)

I just wonder because there are many forums here, so much to experience, yet it seems there are mindsets as to just what the GB should be, but isn't.

Generally speaking I find most everthing I enjoy. Oh there's the few butt holes and lesser informed blurters, but all in all the general board is fun and interesting. It's like a Subway sandwich, you get a little of everything and if you don't like the anchovies you can take 'em off and discard them!

I agree, this board is for any and everything, so why do so many people grumble and groan about having to read/put up with others personal histories, "fuck" talk, fluff, politics, jokes, and on and on and on? I just don't get it. You don't have to do anything. I feel that if you don't like what is available, then contribute whatever it is you'd like to see.

Some people just enjoy complaining! That is the beauty of this beast, they can do that as much as they like and we can chose to ignore it, or not.

Others see the GB in a more insular context than it was originally intended. The board was very different when I first joined. For some, change is difficult and the GB is definitely evolving.

Your thread title says it....we all come here for different reasons and believe it or not, complaining is one of them.

It happens on other forums as well.
