What are you listening to ?

80s music playing in the bank, the tellers sipping takeout coffee
casual clothes Newest Wave
dancing a bit, between customers, singing, and counting out cash
students, young people from the universities, so busy, busy, busy,
doing bank stuff
so many people, coming and going
then
the mergers started
suddenly the happy is gone
no more jokes
no more radios
the young tellers look pale and exhausted
stressed out
all of a sudden
poof
gone
cold dry people took their place
bank lobby stripped to bare
(they sold everything)
no eager excited crowds
a deserted place
soon the university students started weeping
no longer needed
misery trickled down from the top
forget the summer house
it's gone

the other day i found out that apparently the shitty band i was in in high school played a show that included future members of fallout boy. i had no fucking clue. i just remember almost pissing myself (literally) because it was my first time playing in front of people and i had no idea where the bathroom was because it was in a fucking barn. anyway, here's some racetraitor because fuck fallout boy.

Curtis Stigers, "I Wonder Why."

Listening to...This.

This guy was famous for maybe five minutes in 1991, and had a couple top 5 singles around that time. Granted, not many people remember this guy, and to be quite frank, this kind of jazz-lite adult contemporary really isn't the type of music I normally listen to.

But this guy has a great, soulful voice, and he is an outstanding musician on sax here. So I can't help but really appreciate this tune. I posted this, because after his five minutes of fame were over, he semi-retired to Boise, his old hometown, where he still performs now and again (whenever and wherever he's allowed to do so.) He's been in the local news a lot lately, as he and his wife are trying to open a huge homeless shelter which is causing a ton of controversy.

During the day... white noise from a fan and the typing of my keys on the keyboard.

At night... there is a channel on Youtube that does 10 hour blocks of jazz
