Nothing Can Change This Love - Sam Cooke

Found hubby's well-hidden and misleadingly labelled mix-disk; I always knew he loved Sam Cooke's voice, Hell, who couldn't, slow-dancing to 'You Send Me' under a lamp-lit awning on a rainy Louisiana night is one of my life's standout moments, but I never knew he'd made a disk of Cooke's best recordings, hence Exhibit One above. I have to say, the purity of Cooke's voice, whether singing gospel, torrid call and response blues, or pop standards still sends a shiver down my spine; now I know why Will judiciously squirrels some disks away from me...

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2”

Our 19 yo niece can’t believe ELO’s “Mr Blue Sky” was written 43 (!) years ago.

I watched the first and second John Wick movies yesterday in my annual New Year's Movie Night. They had some fantastic music choices, but the standout is the tune carrying the whole Rome assassination scene. Need to get me a recording of that somewhere.

Found it. https://youtu.be/iPdqmM_ev5A

Strange things happen on YouTube... while searching for the John Wick 2 soundtrack, this came up:

Kaleida - Think
https://youtu.be/2cm7MEONP48

I like the song very much. The whole thing has a cool '80s underground wave vibe, plus I really like the singer's timbre. Rrrrrr.

Dance With The Dead - Loved To Death (full album)
https://youtu.be/dS6UI3ukWfA

These guys have become one of my favourite Synthwave acts. Why? A lot of energy, a great hand for cover songs (primarily found on their YouTube channel) and these FAT guitars. Ticking all my boxes, both as a Metalhead and admirer (and maker) of electronic music.

Do Nothing Until You Hear From Me

The Mute Gods (Nick Beggs, Roger King, and Marco Minnemann)

Cryo Chamber Collaboration - Yig

This seems to have become an annual thing with CC. I'm always impressed at how they manage to turn a collaboration of ~20 artists into something cohesive.

Theme for this album: deserts and tripping out on snake venom.

Coma Rossi's eponymous first album

pretty straightforward well done prog from India
