I would laugh at that if I weren't suffering from the same thing at the moment....I'm considering a swig of Nyquil to see what happens...but, I have to get up in 4 hours so...I don't think that would be a good idea lol....

Sounds like a bad idea. I also have to get up, in about five hours. Instead of Nyquil, I've opted for an alcoholic beverage. Perhaps this will help. If not...I'll just lie down and stare at the ceiling for hours. shrugs.

Ouch. Why didn't you go back and complain? I would have (and probably in a rather snarky manner ala Edmund Blackadder - wiki him if you don't know the name).

It's probably a good idea to leave 2 til you've played the first game because of the present-day plot. Wouldn't make much sense if you dropped in at the point 2 starts (even with the short-yet-informative plot summary at the start of the game).

Actually; if you're fine to play it on PC, you can buy the first game through Steam. $20 normally but it's 25% off at the moment (plus there's a few missions in the PC version that aren't in the console one, doesn't remove the repetition entirely but it certainly helps). Just be sure to check the system requirements because I don't think you can get a refund if your computer doesn't meet them.

EDIT: I actually had something like what you said happen to me at one stage. Tried to buy a pre-owned copy of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for the DS and while I was having coffee with a friend shortly after, I opened the box to check if there was a manual and when I looked at the label on the game card, I saw that he'd given me the second Phoenix Wright game. Just as well we'd decided to grab some coffee while we were in the shopping centre or I'd've had to drive all the way back across town to complain.

Yes, clearly the best course of action is to go back and be rude to the clerk who made an understandable, honest mistake in his shitty, minimum-wage job.

Okay, I'd forgive him if it was something minor, but since AC1 and AC2 have their boxart printed on their discs, and said games have radically different boxart (and this is assuming he had the AC2 box in his hand while looking for the disc), this is just a case of not paying attention and poor customer service.

When the most prominent colour is red on the box and blue on the disc, that should be a clue to actually check that you've got the right game.

When that Phoenix Wright mixup happened for me I was pretty forgiving; the cards that the DS uses for its games are pretty small so the font on the labels is ridiculously small. That's an honest mistake.

My point being...

I got the second one for the price of a used first one... so now, all I did was go back and buy the first one again (making sure it was the right one this time) and leave.

TADA! I saved some money. Yay!!

And with that saved money, I bought lunch for myself and a friend...

Ah, I'm with you now. Guess the mistake worked out for the best.

As for my Blackadder remark, it may just be because everyone I've seen working at the game stores here in Toowoomba have either been doubling as the store manager (and thus more invested in good customer service than a min-wager) or are genuinely interested in games and wouldn't make a mix-up like that without extenuating circumstances (like the absurdly small font on DS card labels and that the titles of the first two Phoenix Wright games only differed in the second one's subtitle).

Plus Gamestop doesn't have any branches in Australia, so I don't know what sort of business it is beyond what the name tells you.
 
Right now, I'm going to bed, after a real nice meal out in an upscale restaurant, for just we two, brought pizza home for the kids!

Pity I ate too much though!! Too nice and too greedy!
