True... I told my husband the other day... after growing up in Boston, I learned to walk with blinders on... meet someone's gaze, and you just never know... and I have been there... had one guy march up to me and tell me what great boobs I had... I mean, yeah, ok... I am not a prude... by any means... but I was 17 years old, in the city, with my friends, wearing NOTHING remotely revealing... yet you meet that gaze and some psycho decides he wants to make rude comments about my boobs... LOL...but the operative word here... PSYCHO.... yeah, the city is filled with them....

So true. The psychos tend to gravitate to the inner city. Or maybe it's because they could never survive in the suburbs. The city tends to provide a type of sanctuary for them. Anonymity associated with so many others. They can be aggressive and bold and still blend in or hide in the crowds. So many faces, it's hard to really remember any one face.

But I also think that creates a need to be more aware. To see without looking if you will. To keep from finding yourself in a dangerous situation with no clear way of escape. Something I preach to my daughter all the time. To see what others do not. Without looking directly AT someone. But still see them, who they are and what they are doing, and where their attention is focused.
