I'm with you on changing diet and getting fit. I've made huge changes in the last year and am doing a lot better for it. Good for you for making those life changes so you feel better. It's not easy at all. But it's worth it.

Being confused by multiple writers telling me what I am doing wrong... one tiny piece at a time.

But not by the clever gentleman here. *bows to him*

I wouldn't stress over writers telling what you are doing wrong. It is only an opinion. Write what is true for you, and you can't ever go wrong.

Thank you, you are very kind.. But I asked for this help.. torture?.. hmm..

Anyway.. It's pretty much an attempt at a character description for an RP that doesn't exist .. yet.

I think I have it almost perfect, but someone tells me that i have mixed my past an present tense up.. but not exactly where an how.

Yes if there that picky then don't write with them. Just follow your heart when you write. I sometimes ask for suggestions in my writing but it's only from a few that I known for a while now.

That really sucks.

That is why people with an editor mindset are good people to trust. A good editor explains both strengths and weaknesses, and suggests how to fix them.

If they are that picky over a character profile, I can't imagine how the writing will be...I imagine stressful.

Just don't take it to heart. I know that is hard, especially with writing. But at the end of the day, it is really your own opinion that matters. If you are proud of it, be proud.

Exactly :)

Nicely put.

Sometimes you have to decide if you're going to be a writer or a role player. To me, there is a difference. I'm a role player who happens to express that through writing. I have no aspirations of competing in writing challenges, getting published, or trying to make a living by writing. I role play for fun. If it gets to the point where it isn't fun, I stop doing it. That's my advice.

Criticism is important to improving as a writer or an artist or anything really. If someone is genuinely trying to help you get better then do not brush aside their suggestions as merely 'opinions'.

That is pretty much where I am. =)

Agreed, but a editor/critic should say what he means clearly and to the point. Not mixing jumbled metaphors to try an be a clever Dick.

I do not brush aside any suggestions as merely opinions. I decide whether to agree or disagree with what they tell me. Some people are genuine and wish to help. And others, as it seems you may fall into the category of, say things simply to stir shit and hurt feelings. And that isn't constructive at all.

What I am saying is that it is your own self that puts value on the 'statements' of others. You can choose to let such criticism destroy and hurt you, or you can embrace it and find a way to adapt their suggestions to your own style.

What I dislike is writers who bleed themselves dry at the sake of the 'perfect piece', doing everything everyone tells them to do and then they lose their personality and enjoyment. I see not point to it, if it is your profession or hobby, that if you lose yourself and the enjoyment of writing that you should continue.
