trying to write even the simplest fucking scene...
with rather less success than I might desire.
Sometimes, depending on my motivation, I'll run an exercise to get started. I begin by writing a short introduction to the scene, through the narrative, that would present the scene in an entirely different light than I would first desire.
For example, if there is a hero, I present him as a villian.
Usually, this works at about 500-1000 words before it begins to come naturally. I liken it to throwing my brain a change-up. The result, mostly, is useful.
Rarely, in my estimation, it's brilliant. I hope it helps. You're a terrific writer.
You are reminding me of the things I have forgotten. I know that if I just get words down, something OK will eventually come out. Its been a while since I had any writer's block.
Luckily, I have an SRP that needs a response that isn't asking too much so I might be able to do that.
Doing NaNoWriMo was a lot like what you are describing. No idea what to do? Blocked? Just need to get going? Do something unexpected. You'll get some words from it and get some momentum.
Thanks much, this helped.

I'm glad. You're a terrific talent.
I'm listening to Kary Perry. Without shame.
