What are you doing New Years Eve?

I'm still to sick to do anything, but if I wasn't, I still probably wouldn't be doing anything. :)

Listening to everyone in my neighborhood shoot off fireworks. Midnight should bring a nice finale.

I watched Ohio State get killed.

I did my very first Pilates work out.

I'm watching tv.

Very exciting.

A few years back, the boss took some time off and went to Vegas for new year's eve. We never talked about what happened, but on the Vegas newspaper's website there was a crowd shot and I'm pretty sure the guy standing on a temporary fence with his jeans pulled down to his knees was my boss.

The parties over, we sang our songs, drank our wine Even, tolerantly, were subjected to the notion that Times Square is the gold standard re. New Year You are becoming more irrelevant as the years progress. Like an aging actress desperate for her surgeon to keep her 20, and a virgin, forever.

The Times They Are a Changin'.

I have a love - hate relationship with New Year's celebrations.

On one hand for me it's still the most glamorous and exciting holliday. I love seeing all those people together, sharing and being excited. I have the same feling when I'm on international airports or university libraries, or when some major international sporting event captures the interest of people from all over the world.

But lately, after everything tones down I start recalling the not so good things in my life; unpleasant things that happened to me or things that I should have done differently.
I guess it's part of getting older

The new year came in a bit over an hour ago here in California. Explosions rocked our rural mountain hamlet. Somebody howled. I gave away my trombone a few years ago so I didn't blow a blast -- but I should have hooked up the guitar and the 250 watt amp. Deafen the neighbor's noisy dogs. Shake snow from the trees. Neuter some squirrels. Happy New Year!

Quiet evening with family, and sharing book recommendations with an English tart. ;)

All in all, a lovely night.

Great Gatsby party. Was going to spend some time finding a kick ass 1920 style suit, vest, pocket watch....

But I'm a lazy ass, so I am just dusting off the tux.

Besides, my wife spent enough on her outfit for both of us.

No cigerate holder so my sour diesel vap pen will have to do....

Skipped the tux and just put together shit from my closet. Close enough to the 1920's without spending a dime.

Now if I can only recall the rest of the night.......

I put about 30 miles on the red snowmachine. Snow depths were too low to go many places other than established trails, and even then, the going wasn't that good on the machine. Otherwise, I read, I hauled firewood, I cooked dinner, I had a beer, and I had a piece of apple upsidedown cake. There were no visitors other than a group of 4 bull moose. It was a nice quiet day.
