What are we all writing right now?

Kitty Dude, Kitty
Miss Kitty's Dodge City Boys.
Matt, Chester, Quint and of course Festus.
I get it. Miss Kitty is definitely an inspiration for this one (Miss Millie is a redhead) and I'd happily go there if -
1. the fan fiction section here wasn't a ghost town, pun intended.
2. I wasn't going to submit this for publishing outside of Lit for $.

I just finished the first draft of "Sweet Dreams, Poppy". Our narrator helps her best friend overcome her stress-fuelled sleepwalking habit. No, not Lesbian Sex - it will be Toys & Masturbation.

I’m still working on my time-travel story. I’m stuck at around 70,000 words. I already have the ending written, but I can’t seem to get through the middle section. It’ll be fine, though; it’s not the first time I’ve hit a point in a story where I don’t know how to move forward.

I’m also not sure yet whether I want to publish it as one complete book or split it into two parts.

Since I’m a bit stuck with the writing itself, I’m putting my energy into the translation. It is coming along well, and my beta reader is really enthusiastic. It’s the first time I’m working with a beta reader, so that’s a new challenge as well.

Why is it that when asked about a story I have in process, I can never, ever get the explanation done to a few words? Am I becoming verbose in my old age? Unable to "cut to the chase" so to speak? Or am I so immersed in the tale I can't distill it down to its excess? Or am I just an old fart with a misfiring brain? FFS.

Anyway, I guess I'll just have to expend a number of words to explain it...

I'm working on a ghost story for the Halloween contest. A soldier dies in WWI without ever consummating his relationship with his lover/fiancée. Years later she dies on his grave and is buried next to him. Even more years later a Halloween party is held on Halloween night and when the participants leave the party they are required to walk through the closed cemetery. A woman accompanies her daughter to the party (she is coincidentally the same age as the lady who died on her lover's grave). When she leaves, a young man (the same age as the soldier when he died) volunteers to escort and see the woman safely through the cemetery. The ghosts of the lovers are haunting the cemetery that night and...stay tuned.

"Ghost fucks woman at Halloween." There, five words. If the readers want more details, they can wait for the story.

Stepdaughter Fills In, Chapter 5. Almost done. Longest story I've composed since 2022.
If you want to know more, read the first chapters. Though you could probably skip ch. 3 and not lose the thread. nothing against Ch. 3, it's just a bit of a side excursion.

I'm surprised at how many things I have going on. I get going, a head of steam on me, 4-6K words, and then I lose steam.
Two sequels to my OmoRomances. Another chapter in the assisted living series. (I know no one here has read any of these.) Anyhow, sequels and add-ons.

I have an original, kind of sad story about a guy who gets woken back up to life. Poking at it since January. Might just start from scratch. Rewriting and editing it doesn't seem to help.

Two new ones are coming around for Halloween and Christmas. We'll see. I'm in a down period and need to get back to an up period to be productive.

And, as always seems to happen with me nowadays, my simple story of a woman trying to have as much anal sex as she can to prepare herself for a gang bang, has morphed into relationship melodrama. It’s like a sickness of some sort 🤣.
Finished a first draft at over 20,000 words, so novella length. A lot of time between now and Winter Holidays to polish it 😊.

drafting done, my best effort at revising. ready to go to the editor.
What next?

In the ongoing efforts to relieve the tedium of the endless AI-related discussions, let's talk about our ongoing projects. What have you got in your Drafts folder?

I'll go first:
- A gritty sci-fi western about a bandit and a bounty hunter on a mining planet (working title: Clever Fox and Tombstone Eyes)
- E/V: two mature women talk on the phone as they ogle the young gardener (A Shared Experience)
- A Regency story in the style of Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen about a party that isn't quite as innocent as it seems (Mrs Danbury's Party)
- I/T: two girls disagree about whether the brother of one of them has the largest cock they've seen (My Sister Loses A Bet)
- Also I/T: another instalment in my "Too Cold Not to Fuck" series (Too Late Not to Fuck)
- Mind control: an office worker finds an experimental thought control device (The Office Fuck-Up)
- A novel-length story about my sword & sorcery characters Avilia and Sligh
- A dark fantasy story about a demon hunter and his apprentice, set in Germany during the Thirty Years' War
- And a few files that are little more than story titles: Happily Orgy After, News Girl Nance, The Night Became Her Lover
My Halloween contest submission (technically a follow up to my summer loving story)
A continuation of my cyberpunk series that's WAY behind.
Rewriting my age gap teacher/ student story
A slow burn romance
And part 2 of a story I submitted a week ago that's awaiting approval
