What are the strips in money made out of?

I thought they had some metal in them too and some kind of coating to show up under UV light.

Depleted Uranium.....

If you've torn one from a $20, you've just activated the homing beacon, run! (It's like the tag on mattresses) :D

Recycled cigarette pack thingys.

You know that little gold ribbon thing on cigarette packs.. that you have to rip off before you can open the pack?

Who said the government wastes things?

What? Are they gold?

Seriously I've heard they're made out of recycled Christmas decorations...

Actually......

The Treasury Department has been updating America's paper currency. One of the security features is a special strip embedded in the paper. It is invisible in ordinary light but fluoresces under long wave black light. The strips fluoresce different colors in each denomination. There is a red strip in a $100 bill, yellow/orange strip in $5, green strip in $20.

*But keep on guessing, this is fun! :D

I meant to make a new thread.

I'm glad I didn't.

hope not too many people saw that...

I hate to be the conspiracy theorist here, but I beleive that they are strips of the materials found in the alien spce craft from the Roswell crash back in the 40's. Hell, how else do you explain the way they micro-weaved it into the bills.

In fact, many of the luxuries we experience today; microwaves, cell phones, palm pilots, and little Dutch clones come from alien technology.....

I don't know what they're made of, but I'm pretty sure that Al Gore invented them.

That would make sense. He's an alien, you know?
