I'm not going to rant about semantics, just answer your question. I don't play the Ds game, I like a more equal relationship. I am rather into pain, though, so SM is more my speed. I guess what I really like is a "Mutually Abusive Relationship". I like to fight, hurt be hurt, and so forth. I like wild angy punishing sex, and I like tough girls that can actually take it. I like strength, intelligence, and anything else they can use against me. I like character, things I can use against them.
What puts me off is acting. I don't want some skinny little goth chick kneeling at my feet, calling me "Master" when I haven't earned it. I don't like submissives, at least as lovers. I don't like damnsells in distress, little girls in constant need of rescue, or numb fucks.

Point taken, Ebon. It's a relationship between equals that takes on the fascade of superiority, and inferiority. I'd rather do without those trappings. I did my time in the submissive trenches, and am a better top for it. Now, the only way I submit is by being truly dominated. It hasn't happened for a long time.
On the other side of that coin, I give up on the ones that roll over too easy. Some people just want to submit, let you do all the work, and feel their selves overwhelmed. I can respect that, but I just can't do it. There has to be more interplay than, "Yes Master," some resistance. It doesn't feel right unless I've earned it.
This is not a game to me, but acting out who I am. I'd much rather play with other dominants, they fight back, they attempt to dominate me, and sometimes there's no clear cut winner. It's not a scene to me, it's a skirmish. Sexual combat, mutual abuse.

I'm kinda heavy into burning, and branding. It's the most exquisite sensation I've been exposed too, and it doesn't bleed, or get infected as easilly.
Flagellation is a nice way to go because of the pain to damage ratio. I like flexible multitails personally, but I'm not against something with a bit of a stock. It's rare in these parts to hear anything but "How to respect the master." Sometimes it's claimed to be proud, self confident deference, but it's deference nonetheless.
Yet "mutual abuse" is a paradigm worthy of discussion. Historically, it originates or is found in the Marquis de Sade. Surprise.
