So, whilst I’m a noob in terms of name I’ve been reading stories on here for a few years now and usually I just search on TAGS figuring everyone thinks like me (Miss-Take!) anyhow, long-story short (too late) I recently started to use search and it opened up a whole WORLD of stories I’ve never seen before, a number are from 15 years ago when tags just weren’t used as they are now.

Anyway the point is the author I’m currently reading is THORNAPPLE and I’m loving their stuff as it appears to fit the deviant, swapping, swinging romantic stuff I love.

Has anyone else discovered any older authors recently whose work has blown their socks off?

Another way to search for stories is to check the Favorites lists of authors you admire. So I'm glad you placed Thornapple and his/her stories on your Favorites list to direct other readers to them. It also boosts the chances that those stories will show up on the Similar Stories lists of other stories that you have favorited.

I used to be a bit of a snob when it came to putting stories on my own Favorites list. But now I'm of the opinion that if a story stands out and deserves to be read, and especially if it is an older, not well remembered story, then favoriting it is one thing I can do to help keep it being read.

Two authors come to mind: Quince who has written EC/Romance often set in the theatre - finding a rec on a Lit forum encouraged me to look around and join the forums.

Also Midnight_Flux who wrote a few actually interesting IR stories.

One way is: when someone gives me a follow, I look though their favorites list. It's a way of getting to know the people who are reading you, I guess. Anyway, I click on authors they've followed (esp. the readers who have been on Lit for years) and it's like breaking into a secret cave - you read such good stuff and then you see the author abruptly stopped publishing in '06.

It leaves you wondering: what happened to them? If you were so clearly rocking it putting all those words down for someone to read, why did you stop?

Aye. When I read Thornapple’s SABLE ISLAND it blew me away, and then when I saw RETURN TO SABLE ISLAND had an impressive 4.88 score (wow! Just wow!) I knew I had to go further into these stories. There’s a series of stories involving FAITH that’s gonna be next in the list, but they stopped around 2013 and only have a following of 468. Not 478k…478, that’s it.

Criminally underfollowed.

Yeah, Thornapple’s SABLE ISLAND and RETURN TO SABLE ISLAND have such good characters you find yourself getting sucked into the world and characters.

It’s a crime it’s not more popular, that said, RETURN TO is currently at 4.88, so there’s that.
