Yesterday my wife asked me what she should do about Lit and the other Internet sites I visit if I were to die.

She wouldn't have a clue at present what to do or where to go.

I said I thought I'd leave a sealed envelope of instructions to be acted on by one of my daughters. They are far more computer literate than my wife is.

Should I ask the daughter to get everything deleted? Or leave everything in limbo?

I suppose I'm asking the daughter to be my literary executor. So which daughter should I choose?

1. The teacher, formerly a stockbroker, who is widely travelled but scatterbrained except when it matters.
2. The journalist who might use some of my stories but is also qualified in psychology and can be too serious for her own good.
3. The nearly-a-doctor who has a wicked sense of humour but is very responsible.

I'm inclined to choose daughter #3.

What would you want done about your stories if you died?

I've thought about stuff like this....how would anyone here know what had happened to me if I just suddenly stopped posting?

Sure, some would hardly notice I was gone, but I know others would.

I don't know what type of directions to leave, or even who to have carry out said directions.

I want them left up so that other people can enjoy them after i am gone.
That's what we did for seasparks.

I'd have mine left up, but I'd probably leave instructions for a friend to come on the boards to tell you all. Wouldn't want to just fade away.

I want my memberpage link shared with everyone who might even consider grieving. It'll keep 'em busy (and jaws dropping) until the initial period of grief is well passed. :D

I'll "will" my password to my bestest buddy. She can assume my identity. Lusty bitch, she is. You'll never miss me.

There is a software program out there...if you don't interact with it everry so often it assumes you have died. It then can execute certain e-mails and commands.

I have it on my pc...I haven't activated it yet though...I wonder what would happen should I forget...heh heh...

Anyway, according to what I understand, it will log on to any site you list and leave a message of your composing...not sure how it would work at lit with all the boards and all...but I would think one could work out something in that way.

Just a FYI.

Oh...the program...Dead man's switch.

This bothers me, so I'd rather not think about it.

I know you'd all be let know, somehow, but it would be an awful way for someone to find out.

Anyway, will this place still be around in 50 years' time? I don't plan on going anywhere for quite some time yet.

Interesting. Thanks!

If you all find out, it will be one of my brothers. Probably Brad. he's the eldest and the one I trust with my passwords.

I wouldn't want my stories pulled, I hope they will be around for people to read and enjoy for a long long time.

I have an encrypted file on a server at work, that will be unlocked and various parts of it emailed to people if I turn up dead. It's an auto posting thing, so the ppl at personell there just runs the program.

The file contains some info for different people. If I were to kick the bucket tonoght, you'll hear about it from one of three people who knows about my presence here. My sister, or the hibernating Lit-members Linbido and Icingsugar.

My stories? Let 'em be. I mean, why not?

Never thought aboutnit, of course, no one knows I post them here, so...

I guess I'd be assumed one of those who slip away, almost unnoticed. i don't post often anyway, until lately.

Truth is, I don't worry enough about those I know if RL to worry much about here.
