what about poetry en espanol?

I'm an amateur writer. I do have some poetry id like to share but I like to write in Spanish, seeing as it is one of the " romantic languages". But I'm not sure how many of you guys can actually read Spanish. Give me some feedback
 
Some of us here are fairly huge Neruda, Lorca etc. fans. I'd appreciate someone posting Spanish poetry on the board. You might get some of us trying to translate it though, so if you're touchy about your work you might want to translate it yourself to avoid our amateur attempts. No offense to native speakers of Spanish that I don't know of who frequent the board, or skilled translators.

We might be in a quiet period of the message board. You could post a poem or two in this thread and then expand if more people show up and want to do a Spanish poetry thread.

As a person who lives in Portugal (and the Portuguese translate Spanish better than the other way around) go for it ... I am here waiting to see if you are a Spaniard or a Babblefisher. :devil:

A Babelfisher is one who uses Babelfish to miraculously transform their words into any desired language. In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, everyone had a babel fish, a tiny little yellow fish, inserted into their ear. They would feed on the host's brainwaves and poop out translations, which is why every alien race can easily understand each other.

Tsk you mean to tell me that different planets don't all speak perfect American like in Star Trek after all?!!!

LOL - well, if they wear their balls on their forehead, like most aliens in Star Trek, why not believe it?

In star trek I think they have translator computer thingies on their jackets when they're face to face, so it's the computers turning the new alien language into perfect American English. Although, I think the Vulcans might be speaking American English w/o computer assistance.
 
then we will baldly (oops boldly) go where no man has been before (even though they seemed to meet somebody every episode) an insist as in most other foreign countries that they speak English or risk being spoken very loudly to in spanglish etc

We could go with 'gaze' for 'mirada'. And Lindo = beautiful/sweet. I'm not sure if 'Odnil' is a name or something I can't translate. But it's nice trying, sometimes you come up with something in a translation that you can use, even if it has nothing to do with the original author's intention. I had one Spanish poem that I wrote that I liked. Some native Spanish speakers proofed it for me. It was like three or four lines.
 
afraid my Spanish is a no no which is terrible considering the number of times I have been there I can say hello and that's about it. We are off to Tenerife the week before Xmas perhaps I will be whispering sweet nothings by then !

Which Star Trek did you watch??? balls on the forhead sounds very interesting! More accessible, if that's your taste. :cool:

Funny you should say because there is a Peruvian-American guy who used to submit some very good poems here, and I felt that sort of Neruda/Lorca/Paz-type Latin romanticism come across strongly in his writing. His user name is poetboy824. If you check out his poems you'll see what I mean.

I miss seeing new poems from him. He's very good, imo.
