Wow!! Don't know if it's like that for all of you real writer but it's quite a rush to receive comment and feedback on my very first story :)

Yep it's been posted today :nana:

One thing is that I forgot to acknowledge the wonderful people who helped me make that story what it is now. :( So please allow me to do it here.

You all know that the wonderful Cloudy helped me. Thank you Cloudy, I don't think I'll ever be able to repay all the help and encouragement you've given me

Vamplawyer, Captain_Midnight and Chagrined also helped me, commenting every step of the way, giving me a push in the right direction when I was failing to see what was lacking, making me see what was wrong etc...

Thanks to all those people, that story is what it is now. If it's well received it's because of them, if it's crap it's because of me :)

WHOOP!

I'll be sure to give the finished product a read today.....Congrats!

Congratulations, Lady Cibelle!

It's always a rush to get wonderful feedback, no matter how many stories or poems, no matter how long you've been writing.

Enjoy!

:nana:

Congrats!! And guess what? I don't know about the rest of the authors, but I STILL get that feeling everytime I get feedback or comments on any of my stories.

Ah geez thanks guys....you've been so nice to me.

So far the story is really well received, and apart from one or two weirdos sending me private feedback, everybody else has nothing but good thing to say about my story.

Now I'm really in debt to the four wonderful people who helped me :)

Hurrah! I am delighted that your first story has done so well. I've often seen how kind and generous you are on the editing boards, and am glad you've gotten a warm welcome. Glad to see you on the AH -

Congrats!! :) But, isn't it murder waiting for that first story to post? It's delightfully suspenseful. :)

Yes it is murder. I was sweating blood while writing it and even more waiting to see if it would be accepted :) Don't know if I was lucky or if Lit's reviewers cleared up their backlog but it's been accepted within 3 days of me submitting it :D

Now I'll just have to see how well the next part of my story will be received and how long it's gonna take for it to be posted.

But that's exactly the thing. I'm not too sure that I love writing  THIS story needed to be out of me but I really don't know if I'll ever write something else. It's much too hard to write and I really, REALLY, think you need to have it in your blood (writing) to do a good job.

I don't know how it is for anybody else because it's not a question I've asked anyone...but...is it like that for everyone. Does a story need to be told and forces you to tell it before you're able to write it or does it flow naturally out of you? This one had me sweating blood while writing it...I can't believe anybody would want to do THAT over and over again and enjoy it too.

It depends.

I know that's not a good answer, but for me, it's the truth. Some stories just flow without much effort, it seems. Others, I sweat, and curse and despair over before they're done. But, they still have to be told. :)

Guess I'll just have to wait and see when I get another idea and start putting it to paper if it flows or kills me to write it like this one did.

You should receive the next part of my story in a few days...if I can kick my ass enough to stop fiddling with it and let YOU tell me if I'm doing it right or not :)

I find that I switch between moods when writing.

Sometimes it just comes out.

Sometime it just comes out like a kidney stone.

Sometimes I have to beat the words out of me.

All this can happen within the space of a single story.

I'm working on living through the last two and enjoying the first

God, isn't THAT the truth?!?! It depends on the story, what you are trying to get across with your words. Sometimes readers love it, sometimes they hate it but you gotta remember that sometimes it's about YOU and what you need to express. Keep up the great work!

Writing for me is often a struggle. I know what I want to say, just not how to say it in a way the reader would understand and enjoy. It truly is a rush to receive good feedback on a story, I know. (I just started another thread about this.)

Congrats on both the story and the feedback.

Thanks a lot Mr SeaCat and all the others (sorry can't write all your names :() for all the well wishes.

The second part it coming along fine....it's just harder to write as I'm putting more and more of myself into it....not sure it's a good thing but..oh well I'll see how it goes.

Okay,

I finally got around to reading it, as did my wife. I even, gasp, posted a comment. :nana:

Great story so far and we are both looking foreward to seeing how you develop it. (A plot twist perhaps?) Anyways a great start. Keep it up.

Cat

(Why do I get the feeling from your comments here and the way the story is written that you are writing either from firsthand experience or from the experience of someone close to you?)

You are very perceptive. This story is written with firsthand experience. My sweat, my tears, my blood....my life.

Yes I know, I'm not supposed to say it, nobody will believe it and I'll have to make some "literary" change to it to make it acceptable to any readers...but....90% of what you'll read in the next chapter is the plain truth :(

LadyCibelle,
I'm not one of the real writers here. But yes, it is indeed a thrill. Hubby had to come see what all the screaming and hollering was about.
Good luck again,
Jenny

Lady,

If you are writing the truth then the only changes you will have to make are to protect those who need protecting. (Often this is the author. You have to protect yourself from getting sued.) As was once said, and many of us here know, Truth is often stranger than fiction.

My only advice is to write for yourself. If you try to please the readers then you are short changing both the readers and yourself.
