It started out with the wife and myself heading for the Honda Dealership to get her a helmet. On the way home from the dealership we were cruising in fairly heavy traffic, (at well below the speed limit,) when a Motor Cop pulls out of his speed trap right in front of me. I do mean right in front of me, I hit the brakes hard enough the nose of the car dropped as I hit the emeergency flashers. Thankfully I missed the cop, and no-one was tailgating me.
The Cops partner meanwhile watched with his jaw hanging. We are talking I missed hitting that cop by less than a foot.
When the cop was clear of my car I hit the gas and got the car back up to cruising speed as my heart slowly started recovering, then I saw the Blues come on in my rear view window. Oh F(*& now what? I pulled over and shut down the car even as my wife pulled out the paperwork. The motor officer who had pulled me over came up and stopped at the correct spot, with my window support between him and me. He saw my wife handing me the paperwork and told me not to worry about it. When he had seen the inside of the car was clear and I wasn't holding a weapon he stepped foreward and proceeded to thank me for not running over his partner. (Now that was a surprise.) He then returned to his bike and took off.
Then this afternoon I decided to take the bike out for a ride. The weather was perfect. Sunny and calm with very light winds. I hit the road for what turned out to be a glorious 30 mile ride along the coast. The roads were heavy with bikers with the same idea. As I came close to home I saw a mostly empty parking lot and pulled in. I played in there for a while doing things like short turns, U-Turns and Sudden Stops. I had a great time doing this and I was able to tighten my turning radius as well as make the bike do what I wanted it to. I intend to hit this parking lot again, I need the practice in the slow speed work on my bike.
All in all I had a great day.
