I got the call from the dealership early this morning. The windshield for the bike was in. I ran down to the dealership and picked it up.

When I got home again I carried it onto the patio and dug out the instructions. Everything was there and it seemed straightforward. I got to work and within an hour I had it mounted securley to the bike. I came back inside to wash up and was thinking about taking a ride to check out the handling of the bike when I noticed the pile of stuff on the couch. Both helmets, my leathers, my denim and my leather vest. It made a nice little pile. Then my wife came out of the bedroom wearing denims and a short sleeved shirt. She told me she wanted to go out for a short ride around the park.

Okay I could deal with this. The ride around the park is only about half a mile and it is fun with it's twists and turns. (It's speed limit is only 20 MPH which can be a challenge in it's own right.) We grabbed the gear and headed out to the bike. I fired it up and let the engine warm up a bit as I pulled on my coat, helmet, sunglasses and gloves. I then helped my wife with her helmet, she isn't used to the strap yet.

I eased the bike around the car and motioned for her to climb on. When she was settled I eased out the clutch and motored down the road. Hey this was good for me. It taught me how the bike handled at low speeds with her on the back. By the time we completed the circuit I was ready for more. I wanted to see how having the windscreen changed the handling of the bike. I asked my wife how she was doing and she replied that she was doing just fine. I asked her if she wanted to do a bit more riding and she answered that this would be great.

I'm sure she expected me to do another lap around the park. Instead I hit the main road and went to the west. We did roughly 50 miles today with speeds running from 35 MPH to 55 MPH. Every time I asked my wife how she was doing she answered that she was okay so I kept on riding. When we finally got home I had her hop off before threading the needle between my car and our neighbors car.

By the time I had parked and shut down the bike she had her helmet off. When I climbed off the bike and turned to her she was smiling from ear to ear. The first words out of her mouth were: "That was a blast, no wonder you like riding so much."

As for the windshield. I loved it. It doesn't change the handling of the bike in the least but it does make it a lot more enjoyable to ride at speed. Normally I have to close the visor to my helmet at around 30 MPH. I hit 60 MPH for a stretch today and didn't have to close the visor. I also didn't feel that wind pressure against me trying to push me back.
