Okay say what you will about N.A.S.A. and the Space program but every time I see a launch I stand with my heart in my throat and cheer them on. There is nothing quite so thrillng as watching a launch.
Just now I watched Atlantis go up both on TV and from my Patio. (They launch about two hours drive north of us.) I catch every launch I can, just as I catch every landing. (I have seen a couple landings first hand as they land here in Florida.)
If you truly want to be awed sit on the causeway at night and watch and feel a launch. Yes feel it. On the causeway it takes roughly a minute for the sound to hit you but when it does it shakes you. (I couldn't be up there this evening, I have to be in work tomorrow morning.)
