What’s your most controversial opinion?

Are they the same folks who must have their backs to the wall in restaurants?
No. They are people who do as they were told to do in driving school.

Or they've once had their car battery got empty and have needed help starting the car. It's far easier to deal with the cables if the car has been backed to the spot so the hood is towards the free space.

Also, it's just so much safer.

Pulling out forwards in a car park causes fewer accidents than reversing out into potentially oncoming traffic that you can't see until you've cleared the cars blocking your view either side of you.

Many businesses in UK insist on reverse parking in their car parks purely for that reason

Until someone pulls behind you and you can’t get your shopping the boot (trunk for you Americans)

True!!!!

But, oddly..I have so rarely had to deal with that.

I might just be used to our way of doing it. 😉
When everyone does the same, it is only the tourists that fall outside the pattern..

Well, not the Germans! They are rather lovely, and the English rarely drive around here.

🥰

Hahaha!! Noooo... Definitely not!!

You guys are pretty sweet and adorable. But you rarely drive around over here. 🤣
Probably something to do with the spectacularly insular views this dumb country holds about Europe in general

And the fact we drive on the other side of the road, so we will more likely hire cars out there (those of us who aren't moronic xenophobes with a sense of British exceptionalism) than bring our own

I always think of this scene when the subject of driving abroad comes up.

I have seen lots of Tommies on the motorways here this year. Crawling along while the Germans whizz past in their Beemers. LOL!!
