And not in some setting with rules like a hearing, either.

Dan Heyman, a veteran reporter for the Public News Service, was arrested on Tuesday in Charleston, West Virginia, for doing his job.

The West Virginia-based journalist was working on a story about whether domestic violence would be considered a pre-existing condition under the GOP health care bill, so he went on Tuesday to the West Virginia state capitol where President Donald Trump’s secretary of health and human services, Tom Price, was visiting to learn more about the opioid crisis.

Heyman said that he approached Price in the hallways of the capitol and repeatedly asked him if domestic violence is a pre-existing condition. Price refused to answer questions, but Heyman persisted anyway. Moments later Heyman was handcuffed and arrested for “willful disruption of state government processes.”

First Sessions, now Price -- is every secretary in Trump's candidate going to pull this shit?!

Hopefully. Freedom of speech does not dictate that anyone has to be subjected to your harangue.

Generally it does. A harangue is rarely fair grounds for arrest, you have to harangue in a way approaching violence to justify that. There is such a thing as illegal harassment, but that does not really apply here. And persistent questioning is not a "harangue."

The interesting thing is that they are not arrested for asking the question, it is always their response to the efforts to be silenced. That it is called "Resisting" or "Failure to comply" or some such nonsense is pretty thin.

Where is the ACLU when you need them?

When you get your news from Salon, you are getting fake news:

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price defended police who arrested a reporter at West Virginia’s state capitol, saying they “did what they felt was appropriate.”

When asked if he felt the reporter, Public News Service journalist Dan Heyman, had been too aggressive and whether it was appropriate to arrest him, Price said it was “not my decision to make,” according to the Associated Press. He gave the statements during a meeting on the opioid crisis in Concord, N.H., on Wednesday.

Get that?

The people tasked with keeping our leaders safe made the call. They arrested him. You are passing along propaganda...

PS, he ran past security into an area he knew he was not allowed to be in.

Democrats are insane and getting worse...

In the past several days Litlibs have contracted a new, more virulent strain of Stupid Fever.

The jerk was arrested for behaving like a rude, dumbfuck asshole—

HHS Secretary says police ‘did what they felt was appropriate’

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price defended police who arrested a reporter at West Virginia’s state capitol, saying they “did what they felt was appropriate.”

A day earlier, Price and Kellyanne Conway, special counsel to the president, had been walking through a hallway in the West Virginia state capitol when veteran reporter Heyman began following alongside him, holding up his phone to Price while attempting to ask him a question.

Heyman repeatedly asked the secretary whether domestic violence would be considered a preexisting condition under the Republican bill to overhaul the nation’s health care system, he said.

“Do you think that’s right or not, secretary?” Heyman asked, according to a recording an audio recording Heyman provided to The Washington Post. “You refuse to answer? Tell me no comment.”

A male voice is heard telling Heyman, “Do not get close to her. Back up.”

Moments later, an officer in the capitol pulled Heyman aside, handcuffed him and arrested him. Heyman was jailed on the charge of willful disruption of state government processes and was released later on $5,000 bail.

Authorities said while Secret Service agents were providing security in the capitol for Price and Conway, Heyman was “aggressively breaching” the agents to the point where they were “forced to remove him a couple of times from the area,” according to a criminal complaint.

He's most likely a crazed hate filled paparazzi claiming to be a traditional journalist.

Anyone watch the video? Dan Heyman was brandishing a machete when Secret Service agents used tasers and a shotgun firing beanbags to subdue him.

SS agents in the WV Capitol building?

This is a rather new development, seriously.

It seems Trump's zealot cabinet secretaries are so unpopular with the unwashed masses that they require around-the-clock government protection.

Maybe you have another fake news article on this subject to share with us.

Fucking squirrel.

Democrats defending Fake News reminds me of how they believed with fervent passion that it was a movie, not a 9-11 Day terrorist attack...

Even when they saw the email of Hillary confiding to Chelsea that it was a terrorist attack, they were unconvinced that it was a terrorist attack because that is what the Party and Press were demanding that they believe the alternative story and so they dutifully did.

The retardicans got wound up over this one! Look at them all scramble with their talking points.
