We're being invaded by Catholics

Two members of the church I used to attend called me up asking if I'd be willing to put up two catholics for the duration of Youth Day. Which, apparently, is some big catholic fest that's being held in Toronto.

Apparently housing is a big problem for this thing. Good catholics are being asked to house catholic ruffians for the few days this is going on.

Any other Toronto folk being asked this?

I think the Catholic Church is alot different down here than it is in other places in the world. Down in this part of the country, Catholics are known to be much more accepting and tolerant than other denominations. I live in Florida, btw. I always here people in other parts of the country and world, for that matter, saying rather nasty things about the church. It has been a score of bewilderment for me for years. I know all the things that the Catholic Church is guilty of in the past, lets not take that into consideration in this question. Why is the Catholic Church viewed so differently, depending on where you are??

Because Religion is a cultural thing. Christianity florishes is conservative communities, Catholosism in cities and coasts where there are more European families, Judiasm in...well...New York. lol The more the community is mixed, the more views are going to differ. Facinating if you ask me.

As to the Catholic Church specifically, well I think it just has to do with the number of Catholics in the region. Up here, we're dealing with the whole Cardinal Law fiasco, and you'd be amazed at the amount of public support he has basically because the Catholic Church is such a HUGE part of Boston's Community.

You'd be amazed at what people are willing to ignore when their faith is on the line.
