This afternoon I decided to take a bit of a nap on the couch. It's raining and gloomy and I was up early this morning. I stretched out and everything felt fine. I fell asleep to the sound of rain on the roof.
My alarm went off half an hour later and I sat up. I set my feet on the floor and Holy Shit my side hurt.
Now we're talking this was not minor pain. It felt like someone had nailed me but good under and to the rear of my left arm. I got up while wondering what had happened.Over the next hour or so this pain got worse. We're talking blinding pain, I could barely sit up. I was having a hard time taking a normal breath it hurt so much.
Now I knew this wasn't a heart attack. Nothing else matched. My pulse was a bit fast but regular, about what I would have expected. The same with my B/P. The pain was in the wrong area as well.
The only thing I could think of was a possible Spontaneous Pneumothorax. (A hole in the lung.) This though didn't have the signs or symptoms either.
After a while the pain started to recede. Before too much longer it was gone except for a dull ache in my side. (Still there.) The only thing I could think of was a cramp of some kind in the muscles between the ribs. (I've had them before but never there and never quite so painful.)
It was a bit spooky and definately interesting as far as pain goes.
