Well, This Is Good News

I'm very happy for her. She's 1 for 1 in independent investigations into her breaking ethics laws. Will this be the best 2 out of 3?

Shrugs. So what? There's lots of other reasons not to vote for here.

And I'm one of those damned fool 'innocent until proven guilty' people. Troopergate never figured into my estimation of her at all.

Lucky for us in the lynch mob, there's still so much left to lynch her on. Really, she makes it almost too easy.

Pro-death? Is that like voting for the grim reaper? I thought we liberals were the ones against that war in Iraq where we bombed a lot of people and a lot of soldiers as well as civilians died, not to mention against the death penalty. That sounds decidedly un-pro-death to me, but maybe I missed the memo?

Pro-death? I think DP has gone off his meds.

Oh, and I'm not caught up in the teachings of my untested Messiah. I'm just not interested in another elderly prophet of fear and doom who failed all his tests.

Oh fuck it! I was going to write a whole piece on insults, but I just can't be arsed to try and reason with people who have never, and will never, listen.

I am not part of a lynch mob. I am a con-confrontational middle aged woman, with no axe to grind, and given the chance, no matter how many courts/tribunals/whatevers cleared Palin of any charges of wrongdoing, I would never vote for her. The Republicans threw away any chance of winning when they brought this woman on board.

And no, I'm not a stupid Brit who doesn't know what she's talking about, believe me, this election is as big here as it is in USA. The coverage on TV, in the papers, on line, has been enormous, for both parties, and both of our main terrestrial tv stations have continuous programming all night as the results come in.

In my memory, in all the years I have been voting, following politics, I have never seen coverage like this, of an election outside of our own.

The interest is huge. Matt Jr. is staying up all night to watch the results, and even had me get him an election poster while I was away. And he's just one person, there are thousands and thousands and thousands more like him.

I don't think most of America realises the level of interest in the election in so many other parts of the world. It's become more than your election, it's become a global event.

It has, which is why I don't get all the "I'm so tired of U.S. politics" threads. This election will effect everyone worldwide. I would think everyone would be interested in it.

The opposite of pro-life is pro-death, that is the ONLY choice!

Yet, you're fine with the death penalty, not realizing it shows you for the hypocrite that you are.

You missed that exchange between Sarahh and I. :(

No I am not for the death penalty! For those that claim to be Christian it seems that the passage about Judge not ... covers it well. What worse judgement can be passed on someone?
Not to mention the number of people being released because they are now proven (DNA) innocent? I fear we will and may already have executed an innocent.
Bottom line, it is not our place to decide life and death, it is Gods.

Neither is it your place to tell me 1) which god I have to believe in, if any, 2) or to force me to follow YOUR god's rules.

I would never dream of telling you to have a vasectomy. You don't have the right to tell me what I can and can't do with my body.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaait a minute. weren't you in the service? Don't they KILL people in the military? I mean... isn't that, ultimately, their job?

I've said before, I hold a different view than most. I think abortion is a death, and I'm also pro-choice.

I also believe war can be justified. (this one wasn't but that's not the point...) So can executions. I support euthanasia and assisted suicide as well. Death is no less a valid choice than life.

I am. For that reason.
Plus, even if it didn't affect me, I just darn like politics. Even mud-slinging and pandering. It fascinates me. The whole narration of it, the media hullaballoo, the deadpan rhetorics, the 24 hour news cycle memes, the terrorist fist-jabs, the Joe the Pundit, the what-have-yous...

I've rarely been this entertained in my life.

Abortion, execution, and euthenasia are murder in my opinion.
I was in the Navy, on a nuclear powered Fast Attack Submarine during peacetime (76 - 80). I was in more danger then than at any other 'peacetime" in our history due to the wimp in the Whitehouse that made it OK to use this country as a doormat. I would have done my job if required. Doesn't mean it's right.
I have my opinion and you have yours.
Cloudy thinks everyone who disagrees with her is persecuting her.
I didn't tell you what to believe. You have to squre yourself with the highest power when it's time. I just try to take care of me.

Two rhetorial fallacies all rolled up in one, attempting to establish a limiting hegemony and promoting a false dichotomy.

Just sayin. ;)

Oh, DP is against the death penalty, in that he's not hypocritical, though I do wonder if he was for or against the Iraq war. After all, the bombing in Iraq (and Afghanistan come to that) killed an estimated 7,500 civilians and those weren't all adult, male soldiers. It killed women and children, including pregnant women. So I'm going to assume that DP is and has always been wholeheartedly against any war we've gotten into that might harm civilians as this would mean killing unborn babies.

One thing he is hypocritical about however, is against the facts when he doesn't like them. For example, he wants B.C. pills to be "abortatives" and has faith in one website that says as much. But, in fact, any doctor could tell him (has told him on this forum) it's not true. Human beings MADE that pill. This is not some mystery of the universe that's up for debate. We know KNOW what the pill does and how it does it and if chemists and doctors say it doesn't work that way--it' doesn't abort--then it doesn't. That's a fact.

Yet he's against birth control pills. And THIS, more than his anti-choice position I find mind boggling and objectionable. To be against the pill because it "aborts" is to ignore the facts and, hence, to be a true hypocrite. It means that what you really want is for women to have less or no choice in whether they become pregnant, rather than not to have abortions. The most rational pro-life people I know are those who are very much in favor of all methods of birth control, as this means less likelihood that women will get unwillingly pregnant and seek an abortion.

Bull-fucking-shit, on both counts.

Fuck you. You have no idea what I think. How fucking self-righteous can you get? Now you know what I think? Again, fuck you.

You are telling me exactly what to believe if you force me to follow your god's rules.

In all my years I have never seen an election year as bad as this one. They way everyone as been carrying on. We have cast our votes for right or wrong. the world sits with baitrd breath as do we to see who has come out on top.

It is now time to to stop all of the bickering and try to work as one people To put this country back together. Times will be hard there's is plenty of blame to go around. So Please let peace retrun to these boards.....

Then he MUST be against male masturbation.

It wastes precious baby-making juice!!! ;)
