Well, the Inaugural Balls are swinging tonight.

Then again, maybe not.

Maybe they're just hanging.

Short, shriveled, and a little to the right.

I have unclamped my jaw now. I refuse to think about it.

You look lovely, sarahh:heart:

I'll bet Dubya is itching for a gin and tonic right now. Cheney is closeted in the undisclosed location having his usual: a single-malt scotch with a chaser of black-market stem cells.

In the immortal words of Mr. Lincoln, "It hurts too much to laugh and I'm too big to cry."

Rumple Foreskin

It's winter, so the gin would be Bombay Sapphire.

I have to take a little quinine myself soon. Because of the trip to Belize, you know.

You just did that so you'd be able to say, "Won't you Belize, Belize, help me, help me-e-e."

A real trip? Or a faux invasion?

Oh, it's real. A medical mission trip, but just a week. With MMI (www.mmint.org, if you wish to look). It's the first trip they've done into the area. That's fun, because we will be doing the improvising, devising the procedures for those to follow.

Oh how cool! Friend of mine went to Belize on an eco-terrorists' outing a couple of years ago. Beautiful reefs offshore, and inland jungles. Minute Maid owns more real estate than anyone in Belize. Hey look, orange groves.

I guess I just needed the http: thing.

Anyway, the place is astounding as far as the wildlife, the forests, and the hemisphere's biggest barrier reef are concerned. And Mayan ruins, as well. We won't necessarily see much of that stuff, but I hope to catch a look at the ruins. We're close to a good one, I think. We're going to be in Maskall, north of Belize City.

We leave the 12th of February, so we take the first Chloroquins one week ahead of time: the fifth.

It's difficult to find mosquito netting in the wintertime up here, but I did it.

Cant: Be prepared for some very, very disturbing dreams. Amazing the things that quinine can drag out of your subconscious. :D

It makes you do the same awake.

People are all very "open-headed" on these trips. Sensitized, aware. Part of that is a sensible reaction to the alien place and culture, but it makes for some really cosmic conversations.

I hadn't attributed it to quinine, but it always seemed that way in the RD.
