LMAO!

I turned on General Hospital the other day, for the first time in more years than I would like to admit...
And guess what. Luke and Laura are back! When did that happen?
These shows really need new writers..

Oh! I want to write for a soap opera! (Some of my friends lives seem like one sometimes)

Here is my sample for an application.

Julie is married to Paul. Paul is having an affair with Sherry, who is married to Kent. Julie is secretly in love with Michael, the garish rogue out to take over the corporation owned by Jim. Michael is secretly sleeping with Cyanne, who is Jim's daughter, and there is a chance Chyanne is pregnant. Chyanne's brother Seth is in love with Christine, who is really a bitch, and out to steal Michael from Cyanne. Suddenly, Julie becomes possessed by the evil spirit of the Marquis de Sade, and starts trying to dominate Paul, but Paul's mistress Sherry finds out, and they get into a cat fight. Kent goes insane with jealousy when he finds out about Sherry's adulterous affair, and shoots Kent, who lies dying in the hospital as the catfight continues.

Think I have a shot? lol

My Grandmother has watched Guiding Light forever. I think she even admitted once that she listened to it on the radio, before it went to TV.

Now, that's scary.

The only soap I ever got caught up in was Days of Our Lives. I haven't watched it in months, though, but I hear it's really good now.

I stopped watching soaps when I had children, now on my only soap I'm trying to figure out if Lofty will ever overcome the phobia he has been dealing with, if Muck will ever clean herself up from her addiction to being dirty, if Rolly will ever take over Scoop's position as leader, if Farmer Pickle will find a woman, if Spud will ever grow up instead of hanging out with the birds and causing constant trouble, ...and if Bob is ever going to actually kiss Wendy...this last one is about to happen I can just tell. I saw them leaning in to each other on a bench the other day, but Lofty came along and dumped them...so no kiss. Oh the anticipation!

As for the other soaps, I read Soap Opera Digest. I had gotten into watching too many of them, pretty much all NBC and CBS soaps. But now with the magazine, I can keep track of any and all I want. Sure I don't get to see some of the really steamy scenes like Olivia & Josh in the shower (way back when) and the like but the bonus is that when you do watch, whether you keep up with a magazine or not...the writers write the show so that you feel you never missed a day.
