WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney, back home after a brief hospital visit, has nothing more than a cold and his heart is fine, an adviser said Sunday. . .

Cheney, who has had four heart attacks, had three hours of tests Saturday after experiencing shortness of breath. They showed no problems with heart - ``none whatsoever,'' said Mary Matalin, a former top White House aide to the 63-year-old vice president. . . Cheney's most recent heart attack was in November 2000, just before he assumed the vice presidency. He had a pacemaker implanted in his chest in June 2001.

Matalin said Cheney was just following the orders of his ``very cautious'' doctors who recommended that he have tests at the hospital. Cheney returned Thursday night from a pheasant hunting trip in South Dakota with a cold that left him short of breath.


Well, hell. Do you think all of the American citizens who cannot afford health insurance might just get a bit peeved about this? I mean honestly, is this man Fit to Command if he isn't able to go hunting without needing a hospital visit?

Then again, the Shrub isn't fit to command either, so I suppose it doesn't really matter. And since they have a "mandate", I suppose they don't give a shit.

Wow! This certainly sounds angry, but I think it's just because my entire household is suffering in various stages of strep throat/cold symptoms.

A cardiologist familiar with the procedures Cheney has undergone and a friend of one of Cheney's cardiologists told a relative of mine that Cheney is subject to drop dead at any moment.

Of course, I don't guess that is any great surprise to anyone.

I do hate to think of Cheney scrambling through the tunnel to the White House bomb shelter, pausing at each telephone station to call out the military and give instructions to the FAA while GWB was reading a childrens book and flying around in AF1.

Just a little scary. Well, maybe not. Comforting, I guess that GWB wasn't giving orders.

Wonder if I could do nothing but fuck for four years?

Dick had shortness of breath. Not unusual when you contract the creeping crud, but if you have had a few heart attacks probably scary.

The possible health problems of the pres/vp are always news. In dick's case, since no one expects him to run for pres in 08 and his health problems are serious, anytime he gets sick, people will speculate on him resigining and that starts the speculation on who Bush would appoint to reeplace him. And that give the media and the talking heads something "newsworth" to over react to.
