I've been thinking of writing a Palestinian-Israeli romance, exploring the more serious side of it (I've mentioned this in story feedback, but people in there take a million years to post so fuck them).

What do you think? Too heavy for Lit? Too heavy for the interracial people who generally seem to prefer black guys with huge dongs and little brains and tight little Asians whose English seem to be limited to the phrase 'Me so horny'?

And for a twist, they could be distantly related! (Just kidding.)

Too heavy for the interracial folk, I think, but it would work in the romance section. Were you planning on having it end tragically, a-la-Romeo and Juliet?

I want to say I'd read it, I really do.

The fact is, I read a lot. Much of what I read is for intellectual stimulation.

However, when I'm reading literotica...it usually is for sexual gratification, or at least a vague sexual interest (ideas for roleplaying with my boyfriend, etc.). I tend to assume most other people who read lit are like me in that respect.

You know I'll read anything you write :). I would really like to see something with serious overtones like that, if it was done well. Good to see you on the board, it's been a while.

This story idea has merit, I think (and not just because, in my experience, Jewish girls tend to be hot).

Some suggestions:

Have the characters start with their preconceptions of eachother, and then gradually begin to realize things that they have in common.

Maybe have them meet in a relatively neutral environment somehow. Could be they are both students studying abroad, or they are both traveling on the same international flight and get stuck in the same airport when their plane has engine trouble and has to make an emergency landing.

That's all I can think of at 3AM, good luck! :D

Well the interracial section is way to simple and I prefer a story that gets straight to the point...I think it could find a niche here but I'm not sure its worth the time investment. No offense.

lol, funny. Talk about torn love, you could even add a twist (not sure about my history) They meet as young adults (18) and start an affair, maybe they live close to eachother, soulmates....then one of them has to move to Palestin and they dont see each other till they are 30 or 40, maybe they both have to travel and meet by accident in london

I read it...and I really don't think it counts. The Jewish/Arab background of the characters is mentioned almost in passing and doesn't come into play at all. There's barely any conversation about it, no controversy, no cultural clash outside of a seductive mention of the Arab's "male dominated culture"...and that's hardly a Jewish/Arab thing. Outside of the reform branch, Judaism is a male dominated culture/religion.

In short, you could insert almost anything in place of the "Jewish" and "Arab" without changing the story one iota (outside of our Arab's dark skin color). Example: "I was from the North, you were from the South...." Or "I was Korean, you were Japanese...." or "I was English, you were French...."

I'm guessing that MzD. wants to really explore the political/historic/religious/cultural ramifications of romance between the two troubled sides, not just have a stroke story where one party happens to be Jewish and the other happens to be Arab--and once that's mentioned you'll never hear about it again.

Now for some seriously heavy seriousness.

"I believe the evidence shows persuasively that the original Freudian view of the origin of the incest taboo is incorrect - that some people have an overpowering urge to commit incest and cultures have created this taboo in response. It turns out to be just the reverse of that. The evidence indicates that it is due to the innate aversion to sex that arises from the so-called Westermarck effect--namely, individuals who are intimately associated during the first 30 months of life are desensitized to later close sexual bonding. All of the nonhuman primate species that have been examined for development of sexual preference also show this Westermarck effect. It also explains the interactions of what we presume are genes underlying this rule of inhibition or desensitization. Note that if children are reared apart during the first 30 months or more of their lives and then brought back together again, they would have no barrier to forming sexual bonds, except being told that this is prohibited by custom and law. And then this fits very well with what we know in exact detail about the deleterious effects of inbreeding. When you marry or when you have a child with someone who's very closely related, then the chances are greatly increased that you will bring into juxtaposition rare genes in the population that cause genetic disease. So here we have an example of an understanding of what's going on at the level of the gene in human genetics, and leading up to and explaining how a certain psychological mechanism developed in the brain, which in turn provides an explanation to a wide range of phenomena concerning sexual preference, incest avoidance and all of the various myths and laws and religious prohibitions connected thereto".
