Last night Israel bulldozed over an occupied palestinian settlement in Gaza. A bunch of mobile homes, true. They neglected to tell the people living there, apparently, before showing up and bulldozing. Now that's just plain bad manners. the intention is to make room for permanent housing for Jewish settlers.
Well fine, but this is apparently against International Law according to a bunch of stuff signed years ago. There's also trouble in that everyone else in the world is hoping Israel could knock that kind of thing off while we're all busy making war in Afghanistan and trying to bring economies out of recession and stuff. How inconsiderate of them.
Now what? In all seriousness, this bothers me because it just tells me that neither side is interested in making peace beyond running the other side out of the country. What's to be done? How can we get peace in the region? What kind of compromises need to be made to make both sides at least moderately content?
