Well, I did it. I bought some Magic.

but now I'm afraid to try it. The only time I have ever used a dipilatory was way back when when "Nair" was popular (remember the commercials? "We wear short shorts..."

Nair caused me to break out in a horrid rash all over my legs despite my strict attention to the time factor. My logic now is that maybe Magic won't be so harsh?

After purchasing the cream, I saw where Magic has a "sensitive skin" product, which to my credit, I didn't see on the shelf. I bought the regular product in the hopes that this dipilatory won't be as harsh on my skin.

I've heard so many people praise this product, and I hate shaving every other day, so I'm going to try it sometime tonight. Maybe later tonight after the second episode of "Rose Red".

:) Anyone here have serious problems with using this product?

While I haven't used Magic, I have used other products for hair removal, and I only have one recommendation. Test First, Slather after !!!!!!!!!

I use Magic, though I have noticed that if I use it as often as I need to (once a week) then I get a mild rash. So I've begun using Magic at the beginning of the week, and then shaving mid-week. Works for me.

Follow the instructions closely though, no freshly showered skin, etc.

I use it on my legs, underarms, and 'nether regions' ;) . I love the stuff. And yes, Nair ate my skin too.

Test area, Test Area and Test Area............learn it, do it and you'll be much happier in the end.

Some people are "rashed" by it.........some are not.....but rather than "rash" the whole area, test it and see. :)

After reading about this product here, I have been searching for it, but I don't think you can get it in England. Does anyone know of a website that sells it and ships overseas?

(Sorry to change the subject a bit!)

Let me know you all, damn! There's my accent Cym!

I would be willing to give it a try myself, hmmm?

freaky, thanks for the link

I have no intention of trying it out without a patch test. I'm glad that the cost was so minimal because if I find my skin is similarly sensitive, I will toss it too. :)

Nair gave me a big nasty rash, but I had absolutely no problems with Magic. Do a test patch, and watch your timing, and you'll be in on the best thing since cotton-crotch pantyhose.

OMG!

I'll look back to find the post i did on this in July, beginning of July.
Magic **injured** me!

Some people can tolerate it and some can't.
I cannot.

If you have very sensitive skin, be very very very careful about using this or any product like this, especially on your sensitive spots.

Still shaving...

I want to clarify something that all of you should consider about using Magic.

Results may vary.
Let's just say it is totally dependant on skin types and sensitivities.

I figure that about only 1/3 of the people who use the product have no problems with it at all. Otherwise, there is the possibility that it will cause you mild to very severe reaction.

I put it on and in 1 minute I had completely burned skin. No, not bumps, fucking red blistered rash all over the spot I put it. I am cool with not using it, because shaving is easy to me for some reason.

Hope it works for you, but be sure to do a patch test. :D

A sensitive heart wrapped in thorns…

Have you pricked anyone today? :p

I use it bi weekly.

I have a little bit of growth at the end of two weeks. I also use it for the shortest amount of time (five minutes) as I am new to it.

I have had no problem and love not having to shave every other day.

I find that it doesn't rash me up unless I use it more than once every week or so.

I don't usually need it more than every 10 days or so. Of course I don't like any stubble at ALL on my tushie and corresponding parts therein. :) (TMI?)

Lex - We have it at our Wal-Mart here. Want me to send some?

aw that's sweet of you SS :) how much does a bottle cost? does anyone buy it online?

how does it compare with nair? i used nair once and it didn't really work. it was a huge dissapointment. it did make the skin on my hands feel funny though.

wheee. migraine medicine makes me incoherant :(

Nair doesn't compare. Nair is for leg hair, not course pubic hair. Magic is designed for course hair, so it works much better.

I just did a search for "Magic Depilatory Cream" on-line, and found the following web site at the top of the list:

http://www.abantu.com/PRODUCTS/MEN'S_PRODUCTS/body_mens_products.html

I'm sure there are plenty of other puveyors as well. Drugstore.com only carries the regular powder version, but it's on sale for 90 cents right now.

Now for my rant. I am fucking sick of hair removal. I haven't used Magic in over a month. It smells like a decaying skunk and I really don't enjoy slathering it on and sitting around while it chemically melts away part of me, no matter how well it works.

I have never been able to successfully shave. It is cruel and unusual punishment to have stubble in such a sensitive area. To avoid stubble, you have to shave incessantly, which again takes time, lots of hot water, fresh blades every other day, and then there's still the risk of razor burn. Another fun side effect.

It's bad enough that I succumb to societal pressure and shave my legs. God forbid that I look like an adult and have hair on my body. No, let's all pretend we're pre-pubescent figures, all innocent and pure. Hair means physical maturity, and we all know that means we're merely a step away being too old to be desirable anymore.

Here it's about $1.99 for a can.

The can I am using has been here since summer and it's about 3/4 gone.

If I slather on too much, it does make a rash.

Otherwise, it's usually OK and works great.

Like Mish-mash said, it really isn't anything like Nair. It works totally different. Nair never worked on my "private" area. Well, I'll rephrase that, it worked in patches. (That was an attractive look)

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Mischka is getting a little stressed by school? LOL

Get over it. Jeez...you act like you are in law school or something.

Mischka, *laughing*, I completely relate to your post... but as an aside, I don't want to be completely bare, and I don't wish to do it because I think other people (i.e. sexual partners) desire a less hairy sexual counterpart. I want to do it simply because I like the feeling of specific parts being very smooth and slick and at times, very slippery when wet. ;-)

I'm not so anal that I'd be willing to subject myself to lazer hair removal treatments to underarms, bikini areas, etc. But, if there is a product out there that would require less maintenance than shaving does, I'm all for it.

We still love you, dear Mischka, even if you are grotesquely hirsute.

hey Laurel....may we have a sticky for Magic threads? it seems to be a popular theme?

and where in the name of blue blazes is Cheyenne.
she knows she is the official Magic Spokesperson for Lit.
i still think she has stock with Magic. LOL.

I don't think that my desire not to have a mass of pubes means that i have any wish to appear prepubescent. I'm not completely bare, and have no desire to be. I like how I feel when I'm mostly bare, and I get way more oral than I do when my SO has to cough up a hair ball afterward. I like how I feel too... all that slick, wet, smooth skin... :D

I like when he's hairless too. We both feel/look/taste better that way.

How's that for TMI?

I have had only one problem with Magic which I posted about heer and I explained in that post that it was my fault....

Am I the only person that doesnt get a close enough shave when I use magic? I tend to have spots that are uneffected by the product which I end up having to shave. Right now I'm dealing with some horrid razor bumps :( I'd use Magic but I'm afriad to use it when my hair is barely grown out.
