Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the new Literotica in French forum. Sorry that the first post is in English! :)

After years of requests and a long time sorting out the details, we are finally adding some language specific forums to Literotica. These forums will go hand in hand with the new language specific versions of the website which we are currently beta testing.

Over time we hope that these forums will become an active area for our French speaking members to talk to each other as well as sharing feedback with us for how the French version of Literotica can be improved.

We will also be looking for at least one French speaker to mod this forum - hopefully (but not necessarily) someone who also has some experience submitting French stories to the main Literotica site.

Thanks for all of your patience as we continue to roll the language features out and take care! :)

Brave et Merci !

Thanks for this new Forum addition.

do we have to stick to a particular subject discussion or we can talk of anything in here?

as for feedback for the french part I will help if I can.

Am running the equivalent of vBulletin on my website but in ASP and I had put it all in french (there was some language file addons but lots was still to do to have it in good french), its big works

Cool, alors de quoi on jase?

You can post about anything you want here. If we end up with a French speaking mod, maybe they will want to add some rules or something, but until then I won't even know what you're talking about for the most part. :)

I do have a question for those who speak French. How is the translation on the main site:
http://french.literotica.com/stories/

We have had numerous comments about how bad the German translation that someone originally submitted was. The German section is being re-translated by someone in Germany right now and that new version should be online in the next week or so. I'm curious to know people's opinions on the quality of the French translation?

Also, eventually we will get this vB forum translated (or find an existing language file), I guess like what you are doing on your site. Before we do that, I suppose we should upgrade to vB 3. The upgrade in itself (without even thinking about languages) will be a crazy project when we decide to do it. We are trying to wait for the vB crew to get the bugs worked out of version 3 first, though. :)

Just visit your French sextion, tell me you didnt pay someone to translate it? because if you did, it was a loosy job. Sure we can understand what it is written, but some lines seem to get out directly out of Babel.

French have this particular way of always having rules for everything, like how to format titles, how some words are accepted or not (like the word "E-mail" is not accepted), like the use of special characters and so on.... I know my way around those rules and I know the rules about how to make website (been my job for 8 years now) but my french spelling is bad.

You dont have to "Frenchized" Literotica for Litérotica, the name of a website (or a company) stayed the same in any language.

I guess your database is already made with french terms like "Des Accouplements Erotiques" or "Horreur Erotique", I think you will have to do some changes in there too.

so I can help but I have my limits with spelling and my schedule gonna be hectic soon.

you still have lost of work to do ... subsections like the FAQ and finding french websites for your banner.... whew!

do you have an admin forum? that way we wouldnt cluster the "ordinary" forums. That would make your job easier to follow all the conversations only in one place because I guess this is going on in the other language forums as well ;)

^ I second everything that was said about the French loving their specifics. In fact, the first half of a 2 hour discussion class was spent by the professor talking about the formatting we did wrong for our recent in-class essay  He wasn't even talking about content, just the appearance of things and for a hand-written, in-class thing no less. Drove me nuts, but that's the French for you!

I know they don't particularly like the word e-mail (or new English words in general) but I hear it pretty often. Is this a literary thing? I'm attending school in Paris for political science, so I don't know much about the do's and don't's of French literature :D

But I forgive them all this for my incredibly inexpensive cold prescription!

Thank you very much for the feedback on the French translation. We have one person looking over the initial translation and hopefully they will be able to make improvements. It seems the first batch of translations that were submitted, when were privately testing the feature, were far from perfect. :)

We are working on improving those now with updated translations.

As far as the FAQ and other parts of the site like that, we will also be working on translations for those once we get the main site straightened out a bit.

If you have more suggestions of specific areas where you see problems, you can post here or drop me a Private Message anytime!

Thanks again for all of the input! :)

Okay, I'm doomed...

First because I should be happy there's a French Lit starting... Second because I would be most pleased with helping with the translation...
BUT !! I'm deprived of internet access at work and I'll have no time handling a mod task...

however... I'll have a look and let Manu know what I think about it...

My two cents : French do NOT have anything against the use of the word e-mail... you people have been reading too much governemental stuff... listen to the people on the street !!

ah mister frenchguy, the word that is accepted now in french for e-mail is "courriel" and its this one you have to use when you are a webmaster. Whats more, Literotica is a literacy website so they had to be even more careful with their choice of words :p

Courriel... I hate this word... it's so... not pretty !!

You are prettier indeed, dear...

Bonjour à toutes et à tous

Hello to everyone in this thread, Bonjour à toutes et à tous,

Being a french speaker I'd be more than happy to help everyone with translation, however as for not being a erotic stories submitter I don't think I'll be a good moderator.

Now for my little question:

Bien que cette partie du site soit dédié à la langue de Voltaire ne devrions nous pas continuer à discuter en Français plutôt que de l'Anglais ?
Est-ce que tout le monde m'a compris?

Salut Julianlt,

On discute généralement en français dans les autres sujets du forum Francophone. Ici, dans ce sujet, vu que Manu ne parle pas notre langue et bien nous parlions la sienne.

:)

My apologises !

I realised that it was the reason only after having posted my post.
