To the casual observer, our world seems perfectly normal. But to those with the Sight, there is much more beneath the surface. Many different worlds are intertwined with each other, existing in the same space but at different vibrational frequencies. Rifts occasionally open between the different planes, but can only been seen by Sighters, as they're called. Some of these other planes are home to elves, dwarves, goblins, trolls, faeries, and even dragons. Ancient legends and myths were fueled by beings that had crossed over, known today as Breachers.

A cross-world organization known as the Riftguard keeps a watchful eye on the barriers between planes to ensure no unauthorized rifts are opened and combat the criminal Breachers. However, despite their courageous vigilance, hives of scum and villainy still exist -- such as Lusthaven.

Nestled safely within the Bermuda Triangle and multiple barriers of intense magic, Lusthaven is a tropical paradise for slavers and other criminals. Rifts can be opened directly into the Harbor from any world so long as the one who casts it bears a Skull Ring. The ring normally has black eye sockets for the skull, but when opening a rift to Lusthaven, glowing red eyes appear on the ring and then fade after the journey.

Most arrive by boat or jet or airship, depending on what world they are traveling from. The barriers around the island anticipate incoming travelers and open new rifts strategically so there are no collisions. The beaches are white and the water is clean, and upon land there is a mix of structures and activities from many different cultures from the vast amount of different worlds. However, the primary setting of the island is lust, not just sexual, but all physical desires. Though, sex slaves and prostitutes are definitely found in every corner of the city.

Lusthaven is governed by the Court of Red Wardens, a council of twenty major crime bosses who have red Skull Rings instead of the normal silver ones. These allow them to open rifts right into their chambers at the Courthouse in the middle of the island. Each Red Warden has a number of followers under them, and must always have an heir listed as their replacement should they die or be captured by the Riftguard.

There is a lot of story potential here, and writers can be tavern owners, slavers, mobsters, professional assassins on holiday, terrified slaves, regretful prostitutes, or perhaps even a Red Warden, possibly representing a crime family or a cult of necromancers or a coven of dark faeries? The possibilities are endless :D.

Someone had PMed me and I shared more info with them, so I also wanted to post that info here:

I deliberately left the groups open so writers could work with them, so please feel free to use your biker group. Just keep in mind that if they dwell at all within our normal world, they must keep magic a secret, otherwise the Riftguard would be all over them. There can be other worlds similar to our Earth where magic is public knowledge, though. Perhaps in one of these worlds the Nazis won WWII because they had a team of dragon riders or something. In another world, maybe the Roman Empire still rules into modern day. Another world still could be plagued by a centuries-long war between vampires and werewolves. Maybe one world has a higher rate of geniuses born and have advanced technology far beyond our world. The possibilities are endless :). You can create your very own version of Earth for your group if youd like :).

Name: Abigail Williams (yes the Abigail Williams)

Age: 336 (looks like she's in her twenties)

Race: Human/ Witch

History: Abigail was born in Salem, Massachusetts in 1680. At a young age she discovered her powers, and used them to cause the famous Salem Witch Trials. She faked her death in her early teens and began to hunt for grimores to increase her powers. She spent the next 200 years gaining knowledge and power, as well as wreaking havoc throughout history. She discovered Lusthaven in the early 1900's and began to build her slavery empire there.

Name: Her true name is Osirealesa but her slave name is Bella

Age: 22 (the mermaid equivalent)

Race: Mermaid

Appearance: Bella has naturally white hair and blue green eyes. Her skin used to be very tan, but has grown increasingly more pale from her lack of sunlight. Her breasts were originally small, but Abigail permanently increased the size. When she's in the water her tail is pale pink.

History: Osirealesa grew up in peaceful realm that consisted of large oceans and islands. When she was (the mermaid equivalent) 18 she was captured by Abigail. Abigail changed the mermaid's name to Bella and has kept her as a sex slave for her entire adult life.

Powers: Bella can breathe under water, and when she is removed from water she grows legs. She is also capable of singing hypnotic songs, but this power has been restricted by Abigail's magic.

The Crimson Revelers

The Crimson Revelers are a crime group that is mainly composed of two groups of members. Demons of Lust from the realm of the Incubi and humanoids from the world of Saturnalia.

Saturnalia is world not unlike Earth, but with much less taboos about sexuality and the decadence of a late Roman orgy. Its inhabitants are humans not unlike those of earth but with a somewhat higher likelihood of magic abilities, as well as creatures known from Greek and Roman mythology. Satyrs, Centaurs, Minotaurs, are all found on Saturnalia and are also occasionally found in the ranks of the Crimson Revelers.

The group doesn’t seek power and wealth as a goal in itself, these things are only used as a tool for the Revelers’ true goal: to turn the world – and all worlds eventually – into an abyss of amoral, decadent debauchery. Each world corrupted like this will become a sacrifice to their demonic masters, and will give the cult leaders enormous power.

Infiltrating earth’s society the group now has among its members politicians, professors and clergymen as well as rock stars, druglords and porn producers. These people keep their allegiance unknown to the masses and work on slowly but steadily corrupting the masses.

Less subtle are the thugs among the Revelers, a biker gang called “The Hounds of Hell”. These black leather clad outlaws are notorious for their sadism and depravity, rape and abduction their daily activities. Many among the gang’s leaders have demonic blood in their veins – being the product of a fiend’s rape of a human woman -, but are able to hide their infernal nature, causing panic and mayhem the few times they chose to completely unleash it.

The Crimson Revelers own a large building in Lusthaven, the Septagon, which is headquarters and temple at the same time. The place where they revel in depraved lust as well as hatch foul plans to corrupt the innocent and destroy all moral order. Most notorious though are the vast dungeons of torture beneath the Septagon. Only few have returned from being tormented there, but none with their sanity intact.

Leader of the Crimson Revelers in Lusthaven, and one of the Red Wardens, is a tall, enigmatic, bald black man only referred to as The Vizier. A master occultist he is able to commune with infernal beings that would shatter the sanity of any man of lesser will, and takes his orders directly from the most powerful among them.

The Revelers sound pretty cool. And I'm sure Abigail would love to play in their dungeons ;)

Salem

Abigail runs a nightclub/brothel on the island called Salem. The entire club has gothic metal vibe and is divided into five stories. The first floor is the club part. Drinking, gambling, dancing, strippers, live music, and other normal club things take place here. The second floor (which is under the first. Salem is built mostly underground. Think of an upside down skyscraper) is the brothel. Any Salem employee can be taken here for a price. The brothel floor consists of private rooms for the customers use, ranging from tiny cells that contain only beds to huge lavish suits with all of the luxury of a mansion. The third floor is the dungeon (because what evil witch doesn't have a dungeon?) which is available for use by customers for enough money. The dungeons are equipped for both sexual and non-sexual activities. The fourth floor are the slave pens. This is where the employees of Salem sleep when not on duty (everyone working at Salem is some type of slave. They all wear tight purple collars with runes that keep them from leaving the club and signaling to customers that they're available for purchase.). Customers can go to this floor if they're interested in purchasing a slave. The fifth and final floor is Abigail's personal floor. No one is allowed on this floor without her express permission. She spends most of her time here with her favorite slaves, working on new spells or new forms of torture. She rarely leaves her lair, but when she does it's usually because she desires something. If it's a grimore, a new slave, a magical artifact, or something else, Abigail won't stop until she gets it.

Awesome, but keep in mind this is a tropical island, so any underground structures need to be magically sealed to prevent leaks.

I'm still working out my characters, but my main one will be an ancient dragon lord named Calsuphur who massacred every dragon in his home world and absorbed their souls to steal their powers. He is immortal and it is impossible to kill him permanently as he can heal very fast and even if you manage to destroy his body, his spirit can just gather ectoplasm and create a new one. The only way to truly stop him is to trap his soul before it can make a new body. But even this is only temporary as his soul is fractured into multiple vibrational frequencies, and he can use that to very slowly slip out of any soul trap, though it can take centuries if the seal is strong enough.

Some rooms in Abigail's lair aren't in the same dimension as the rest of the club, so magical seals won't be an issue for her lol

Plus she could have pocket dimensions within small rooms.

She's powerful, but not enough to create her own dimensions. She's just figured out to remove areas from other dimensions and trap them within rooms of her house. So like she had a door that leads to a cave she uses for rituals and another that leads to her alchemy garden. Stuff like that.

Lord Calsuphur

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/calsuphur1_zpspzg43biw.jpg

Birth Name (Draconic): Eg'rkwen Dioskwna-ise Godenemos veiy Rulik Dugud'ath
Birth Name (English): Thunderborn Dioskwna-son Godenemos of Clan Dugud'ath
Birth Place: Eg'ryesyks (Thunderplains), Amarodekoth (Earth-4365 in the Riftguard World Registry)
Race: Thunder Dragon
Occupation: Red Warden of Lusthaven; Dark Lord of the Roth Brotherhood; Founder of Edgewick Industries and Ambassador to the Riftguard Security Council (under alias David Edgewick)

Overview

Calsuphur was originally born as a dragon with the ability to control wind and lightning, but eventually he delved into dark arts that were forbidden by the Dragon Kings. By absorbing the souls of other dragons, he could inherit their powers, which ultimately gave him the capacity to harness all the elements. He also found and decimated several Phoenix nests, learning their secret of immortality. Countless centuries of study has also given him a keen understanding of many different disciplines, both magic and non-magic.

Cal has used hundreds of different aliases across many different worlds, living entire lifetimes in the guise of his characters. He has been doctors, lawyers, martial artists, entrepreneurs, soldiers, alchemists, scientists, wizards, kings, interrogators, inquisitors, politicians, and many others. His current alias is David Edgewick of London, England of Earth-2908, a world very similar to our own except technology is a lot farther along, thanks mostly to the genius inventions of Edgewick Industries. Many of the Riftguard's weapons and equipment are developed by Cal's company, but this is a cover -- the gear he gives them is actually not his best work. He reserves that for his allies in the Red Wardens, using the funding he receives from the Riftguard to develop top-notch products for his fellow criminals while providing the "good guys" with considerably less effective tech, but still shiny enough to make them think he is helping them.

As David Edgewick, Cal also engineered many of the magical computer programs and sensors used to locate unofficial rifts, earning him a spot as Earth-2908's Security Ambassador and giving Cal the access he needs to make sure rifts to and from Lusthaven remain hidden from the sensors.

On the island, Cal owns the Scarlet Tower, a forty-story luxury hotel with a casino, brothel, nightclub, and restaurant on the lower levels. The building is staffed entirely by slaves, many of whom Cal bought from Abigail Williams. He has been looking over plans for a Slave Academy on the island, and wants to offer Abigail the job of Headmistress.

While currently there are twenty Red Wardens, originally there were less, known today as the Founding Five. Cal was one of these five, and is the only original still alive. Three of them died centuries ago, and the fourth was killed directly by Cal when it was discovered that the man had grown soft in his old age and, plagued by guilt, had leaked Red Warden secrets to the Riftguard. That was part of the reason he decided to become involved with the "good guys" in his Edgewick persona -- to make sure any snitches did not remain anonymous.

Name: Bruce Murdock

Age: Lost count

Race: Human

Appearance: Well-built man around his late 30's, black with slightly graying hair, has a beard that much more shows his graying hair. Has an eyepatch across his right eye, almost always wearing body armor.

History: Bruce came from an Earth similar to the original, but instead of governments running countries, there were militaries. In this highly militarized world, each military was constantly trying to come up with a new super weapon to rule the world. This is where Bruce comes in. He was the most adept and best soldier in his army and was chosen as an ideal candidate for a super soldier procedure. While the procedure worked, the facility that the procedure was performed in was discovered and bombed to smithereens by an opposing army. Bruce lived because of the healing factor that the procedure gave him. After his army was convinced that he was a spy for the opposing army due to him being the only survivor, Bruce went on the run, becoming the most dangerous mercenary in the world.

On a routine assassination, his target summoned a portal to Lusthaven to try to escape. Bruce managed to kill her but both he and his target's body were sucked through the portal. He then figured out that it was the ring that she was wearing that teleported them. He then began to work his way up the ladder of mercenaries until he became the most sought after and most feared mercenary across every world.

Abilities: The procedure highly enhanced his strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, and intelligence and gave him a healing factor. He can dodge bullets, use 90% of his brain, making him one of the best tacticians ever and he can learn new things almost immediately, and is essentially immortal. He figured out how to access all of the different worlds and mastered most of the fighting styles found in each. He is extremely proficient in most weapons found across the worlds, but sticks with a sword, a staff that shoots bolts of energy, and laser guns.

Awesome character, though I feel I should point out it's actually a myth that humans only use 10% of our brains, lol. We use the entire organ, but different areas support different needs. You don't have to change the character, since "realistic" really isn't an option in this kind of story anyway, but just wanted to point it out, lol.

um I'm just curious, not saying I'm joining, really haven't been good with group threads in the past but would this thread have short or long posts?

Good question, I'm also interested in knowing how long people are going to want the posts and what kind of progression people are looking for

I generally enjoy detailed, well-written posts that help craft stories like the art that it is :D. You can look at some of my past RPs under this account and my older one, "The Jeffinator," to get an example of my writing.

I vote long to medium posts for when we're describing fights or doing general "stuff", but for dialogue short to medium. So basically just write what we need, and not have long posts just for the sake of having long posts.

And as long as Bruce pays for the room he can stay at Salem as long as he wants. Abigail doesn't leave her level very often so she doesn't notice/care what's happening in her club. She just lets the slave workers deal with everything.
