A new and improved Tiger? That's fucking scary.

Eldrick Tont Woods? Jesus, did his parents hate him? No wonder they call him Tiger.

I figure he'll still be winning at 53. If he doesn't retire. That's another 20 majors or so.

So his first day back on the job was a 3 and 2 victory over the 64th seed. I wonder how things will go once he hits his stride.

I've heard reports that his shot shapes are incredibly pure. Maybe having leg bones that don't slop around when you're swinging a club at 125 mph is an advantage. :D

Hmm. Tiger is 33. He could run for President in '12. There's no question of his being Muslim - he's Buddhist - so that wouldn't be an issue. He could almost single-handedly bail out the economy. Maybe he could convince the rest of the world leaders that instead of having wars, any inter-national disputes should be settled via golf matches, ala Ryder Cup.

:: Skull gears grinding, smoke escaping from ears ::

Note: According to Wiki, "Tont" is a traditional Thai name, from his Thai mother.

An interesting side note to the trajectory of Tiger's career is the impact of the world-wide economic slowdown. I saw a headline recently that suggested that Dubai was falling into the dumper. If true, that means that Tiger's first major golf course design might not be as successful as he'd like. The odds of other big-money projects starting up in the near future are low to non-existent I would think.

I guess he'll just have to amuse himself by trying once again to break Byron Nelson's win-streak record. :D

I love that course they are playing on. Carved out of the desert.

Did you go to the Masters when you were in Augusta, MWY?

Are you kidding? Even back in the Flintstone era when I was there, such tickets were nearly impossible to get. I've a nephew who's an assistant golf pro at a country club in the Raleigh-Durham area and he got practice-round tickets a couple years ago. He was salivating for a week afterward.

My most realistic goal regarding major championship venues is to play Pebble Beach someday.

ETA: Tiger was to tee off about 15 minutes ago in his match against Tim Clark. No score reported as yet.

My ex brother-in-law had 4 tickets back in the 70s and I went a couple of times. My sister divorced him. Damn, that was stupid. Lost my connection.

I think I'd have been poring over the law books to see if a brother could block a divorce "for the good of the extended family." :D

So if I ever got back to Georgia, would you be up for a round?

Yeah that would be fun.

If I were picking I think we'd play here. If they put it in company like Augusta and Sugarloaf, you know it kicks some ass. 7 water holes on the back 9? Better bring lots of balls.

Named 2nd Best New Affordable Public Course in America by Golf Digest for 2005.Arrowhead Pointe was also named in TravelGolf.com's Top 10 Courses in Georgia, alongside such venerable courses as Augusta National, East Lake, TPC at Sugarloaf and Ocean Forest. And Arrowhead Pointe is the only public course on the list.

That's a fine looking course - and very reasonable greens fee, too. Around here I have to pay that much and more for scrabbly muni courses.

Woods is now down 2 after 12.

This one I have played a few times and it's only 25 dollars cart included if you play after 2 or 3 in the afternoon. All the state park courses are very good.

All we have where I live is a 9 hole goat trail you can walk for 5 bucks a side. If they keep it open. The city always lost money on it and sold it.

3 down with 3 to go.

Looks like the Tiger watch will have to go on hold for another week. Eldrick the Fearless just got smoked by Tim the non-winner.

In Scotland we've got some great council run courses where you can get a round in for as little as £10 and cheaper for juniors. My uncle used to take me round Inverness Torvean club when i was 12 or so, good memories.
Funny though in the carpark there would be vans, mopeds and bikes instead of beamers and jags!

Just my two cents here. tiger will easily beat Jack's major record. It won't even be close.

I just got back from vacation in North and South Carolina. We stopped at Pinehurst, NC for a couple of days and played a nice little course. just down the way was the Pinehurst Golf Resort. They have eight courses there in all. the lowest priced two are $165 per round. The next five cost $265 per round. Pinehurst #2, where they have the US Open every so often, runs $420 per round. But you get a cart too.

I'm so going to do it someday.

I'm also going to play Whistling Straits, site of the 2010 PGA Championship. Last I heard fees were $360, but you get a caddy and have to tip him.

I'm also going to play St. Andrews, but you have to get tee time 2 years in advance.

I'm also going to play Pebble Beach. Fees there were $500 plus last I heard.

Maybe we should have a Lit Golf Together. I played in the Philippines. Talk about rough. It was jungle. Back when we had a base there.

I always wanted to get pulled around a course by naked pony girls. Maybe we could get some volunteers.

And we could insert the tee in their......

Lorena Ochoa won again. I love watching her play. Pound for pound I think she is Tiger good.

I've started a golf group at Fetlife. Six people joined overnight. I know golf is something you either love or hate so I have no interest in keeping this thread going but would love to see you there.
