This is a strange scenario but something that actually happened IRL.

I suppose this is as good a topic for a first post as any, so here goes.

What would I have said to someone in that situation? I would tell them to do what they feel is right, I suppose.

Having said that, it does bring up interesting questions. Incest between siblings (generally poorly regarded, though ocassional cultures have accepted it) brings up things, but lesbian incest does not have the potential of creating mutant children. So, genetic logic cannot be easily cited here. It also involves the issue of one being underage (depending on the locale, as you said she was 16). Does sex with a sibling or with a 16-year old offend me? Actually, I think I'm more offended by the crass way this seems to be all for the benefit of her male friends. Not that I'm advocating either, but it seems their choice not mine (and I guess I am willing to extend the benefit of the doubt to a 16-year old to make choices for herself).

Incest is actually a real problem amongst groups of certain animal species, like cheetahs, if I remember correctly. However, animals don't do it out of choice, they feel a need to mate and the populations are so sparse they have only family. Or people make them (that's how certain features of breeds of domesticated animals are acquired).

Also, taboos have varied from culture to culture. Whilst, cousins having sex is considered taboo in the US, it's common in some cultures (consanguinous marriage being pretty common, even preferable, in much of the Middle East for instance). Even sex between siblings has been occassionally acceptable (or quasi-acceptable) in certain cultures, like Ancient Egypt or at varying times in Persian history (Kambujiya/Cambyses married his sister Atossa and certain later Zoroastrian sources support sibling marriage).
