I don't recall this being done before, it would seem obvious that it had, but here goes; what weird foods do you like and prepare for yourself? I am not talking about something that you would get in a restaurant, but something like Klingon Blood Pie (I am sure there is a recipe for it out there on the 'net somewhere). My ever so slightly weird foods that I eat (in fact I am eating one right now) are:

1) Cucumbers and onions, sliced up in a bowl, with some vinegar and salt poured over them.

2) I used to eat cottage cheese on everything, even hamburgers, but I have cut back quite a bit, and only eat it on about half my food.

I am sure everybody has much weirder foods that they like - what are yours?

that cucumber, onion salad isn't too odd. It's, I believe, of Polish origin.

As for me, I like grape jelly on my grilled cheese sandwiches.<blush>

I figured it wouldn't be; I had some Mediteranian food once that had a very similar combination as a side dish to compliment the main dish, except with some type of tasty oil dressing, maybe a vinegarette.

a friend introduced this to me at thanksgiving..

pineapple rings with a little dab of mayo in the center sprinkled with cheese and then a little marischino cherry in the middle...IT'S GOOD!!

my best friend and i always get a big coke..popcorn and pickle when we go to the movies together...we wait for the lights to go out..and then we split the pickle in two...and then we dip the pickle in the popcorn and eat the popcorn off the pickle..it's the yummiest!!

Crunchy cheetos dipped in cream cheese... and then there's french fries dipped in a chocolate shake.... mmmm....

Nope, I don't know if I have ever even been to Wisconsin (drove through the midwest once in an 18 wheeler, but that was 30 years ago and I don't remember all of where we went).

*making note not to go to movies with Amelia*

wierd

How about a sandwich - onion on rye.

Take a large spanish onion, slice, soak in vinegar. Good on rye bread with a little salt.

see :p

I just made an experiment and it is cooking in the over.

I am smoking pot and playing with kitty while it cooks.

Rainbow trout stuffed with the following:

Green bell pepper, 1 quarter of an onion, fresh mushrooms, ripe greek olives, fresh parsley, one lemon, juiced and throw the peels in, and 2 tablespoons of butter.

Wrap it all up in foil and bake at 350 until done.

Bon fucking appetite. Never tried it before- always smoke my trout. Thought I would do something different for a change.

close , its actually sliced cuecumber with sliced onion (optional)
salt, pepper and sour cream , not too much , the water in the cucumber will thin it down

cucumbers were the only "green" food I would eat as a kid.

I still love them. I like to soak them in balsamic vinegar for a couple of hours and then sprinkle the lightest sprinkle of sugar on them.

In Moscow, I ate caviar on cucumbers. With ice cold Crystall vodka straight.

And a russkaya at my side.

You'd be surprised though at how simple my tastes can be. French Fries and mayonaisse rock.

Spaghetti sauce sandwiches on soft white bread.

Sliced green apples dipped in bleu cheese dressing.

Jif Extra Crunchy mixed with honey and golden raisins. Eat with spoon or on a Ritz.

Holland Rusk with slice of Braunschweiger and a smear of onion garlic jam.

Sharp cheddar dipped in cocktail sauce with extra horseradish.

And once, cold fried shrimp dipped in cashew butter.

(I can never see Martha Stewart without the vision of her squeezing liverwurst out of the casing straight into her mouth in her car on the way home from the store. She should never have told that story on herself!)

Everything I eat is weird. My favorites:
Kimchee and Cheese Sandwich, or the Kimcheese Sandwich (copyright - me) - a marriage of Korean and European tastes. When I told my Korean friend about my little invention, she was absolutely horrified.
Cottage cheese and salsa on ricecakes - I'll admit that even this one grosses me out occassionally.

This is a true story: In high school I used to get a cup of the flavor-of-the-day soft serve ice cream (usually strawberry) and a bag of cheese puffs - and then I would eat the ice cream using the puffs as eating utensils. The worst part of this is that I did this in public...in high school.

i love hering , raw , yup your read right raw, either soaked overnight with some olive oil and lemon and onions mmmmmm im gonna go eat some right now

quite simple to make

heres how

buy some hering fillets fromt he market , when u get home put then in a large bowl and soak in water, changing the water a few times , this is meant to make them less salty , depending on how salty they are it might take about 6 hours give or take a hour ,if your not sure taste them

once they are ready chope them up into cracker size portions , cut a onion in half then slice it , one large onion will do depends on how much you like it , take a lemon cut it in half , peel one half and dice it into cubes , keep the other half youll need it later

now take a jar or some large container you can mix it and put your hering in then olive oil , enough se the fish is all covered , add onions , the lemon cubes and squeeze the other half of the lemon in , add pepper , stick it in the fridge for about 12 hours and your done

preatty simple dish , and it lasts for a long time unless you have some one like myself living in your house who will devour it within a few days
