Looking at the spreadsheet in their control panel, the one showing views, votes, etc, has anyone else noted some seriously screwy numbers? I'm getting enormous jumps in views and votes, utterly impossible ones. Before I raise it to Manu and Laurel, I'd like to find out if this is systemic or my usual magnetism WRT wiggly-amp devices.

Interesting. I'll check this out.

I have seen something like this before for my stories, but it's been a while.

Nothing looks out of place in my control panel. But there may be something going on that affects random accounts. The New List for example is completely fucked up, so maybe something related to that.

My stuff looks the same as always: a few more views, fewer new votes than views, and trudging along the same path. My three stories that switch places, sometimes getting to the red H and dropping out in different orders, are still setting between 4.9 - 4.7 as always.

After being stuck on 999 views for the better part of a week, the third chapter of "Dungeon of Desire" has seen a sudden surge and is now on 1018 views.

My free verse (Seventeen) on Capital punishment - rating went down considerably 4.45 to 4.20 without a significant view increase. Otherwise, I see no change

I'm still getting roughly 5000 views a week. Nothing exciting from my side.

Weird things happen. A few years ago, I had a story that had been out for at least a year, so it wasn't getting that many views per day, and suddenly it received 10,000 views in one day. I don't know how that happened. Bots, maybe? I don't even understand how that works.

Well, a bot is an app designed to screw with websites or website users. It's software, not usually AI, but it can be, and it performs certain tasks, like opening up 10,000 browsers on a computer, and preventing you from stopping it, short of a hard reboot. They don't normally do anything good, like up your view count, unless they're doing something bad along with it, like downvoting you.

Other than all my stories with ratings above 4.84 getting flattened to 4.84, I don't see anything unusual.
I don't want to get that top list squealing going again, but the fact there is a definitive 'cap' number stories seem to be being held to makes me feel like its a system glitch, like a broken sweep that thinks it has to get to a certain number.

Considering everything else going wonky here its not that farfetched.
