I have my announcement thread, but I decided to start another thread for the plans we're going through and all other interesting things.

Well, first off, it looks like we've moved the location. I really *really* wanted to do it at our friend's house in Rhode Island, but it was getting more and more expensive to do it there. While they were giving us an amazing deal on the flowers and catering, the cost of renting the tent, chairs, linens, china, flatware, etc, just kept building up.

The place that is now looking most likely is called Point Breeze, located in Western MA. The outside and inside is beautiful, we'll still get to do a ceremony outside if the weather holds up, and the food is really really cheap in comparison to almost any other place. We're still trying to decide between doing a buffet or doing a sitdown dinner style. Thoughts? Opinions? ... I've thought it would also be much cheaper to just do snacks, butlered hor'dervies, but I kind of want to go all out with the dinner ya know?

I bought my wedding dress! .. EEee!! .. Which everyone keeps teasing me about. They're teasing me because this is the 2nd one I bought. The first one I'm now trying to re-sell.

We have our florist who is a good friend and is doing a huge array of flowers for $600, he's amazing .... and we have our photographer that we met with last weekend that is doing our entire day from 11am until 1am or whenever we're done for $500. Yes, I said $500 .. he is the father of a good friend and he is an amazing man. The $500 includes all proofs (digital), all editting, all cost of him being with us for the day. To make up an album it'll be extra for printing the pictures out.

Hmmm.. I know more has happened but I'm blanking at the moment. I'm sure I'll write more as it comes up.

Ohh.. and so everyone is aware in case I didn't post it elsewhere, the date is set for June 16, 2007. Hooray! .. :)

Here we go ... a few pictures..

The first is just to show the floors inside the reception area. The set up of tables and the colors of chairs, linens, etc will be different.

The second is of the wrap around deck outside. The wrap around deck overlooks the lake and is up above the ceremony area.

The third is one example of a fun spot for taking pictures. It's down on the stone steps that lead down to the water from the ceremony area. Pardon me in the picture .. I was exhausted and without makeup / hair being done. :)

LOL, I remember the excitement and headaches of organising a wedding from the first time around......F & I went much simpler due to time and financial constraints. He says he wants to do the whole shebang at some point, but so far it is not in sight. The place you are looking at looks very nice...being near water, it can't help but be nice.....amd you look just as sweet and gorgeous as we remember you being. :rose:

Congratulations!

As to having a sit-down dinner or a buffet, it looks as if you're having tons of guests. In that case personally I'd prefer a buffet. I've made the experience that with a big crowd, sit-down dinners tend to arrive cold and not all together. With a buffet everybody can take whatever they like and leave the rest.
I have to agree with Cat. The place looks great. Just beware of mosquitos ;)

Congratulations! The location looks stunning, expecially for the ceremony (you looked pretty cute, too.) :rose: Neon

It seems to me you are handling things well. Remember to take to some "Me" time to keep up your strength! I am so looking forward to this! Eb

Thank you everyone for your replies and thoughts. I can't wait..

In answer to the amount of people vs buffet/sit down style -- we're having about 70 people all together. We're trying to keep it on the smaller side. I agree about the food possibly arriving cold if we do a full sit down. I've also considered keeping it to just passed around / stationed hor'dervies to keep the cost lower ... but I just don't know about that.

Thank you everyone about the compliments on me. *blush* .. One of these times when I know a few people are around I'll put up the picture of me in my wedding dress for a few hours (after being sure to tell the man not to be online at that time.) :)

Ebony - I can't wait for you to come up along with everyone else who might be able to make it. It will be so damned good to see everyone again. Within the next month I'll be settling up the hotel block for everyone who's coming in out of town. :)

I wish you well. May the preparations be a great joy and not a great stress as so many find it to be.

I'm looking at a way for Eb and I to work this trip out, together. I can't imagine a lot of things more fun than this!!!

Congrats to you and Ezarc! ;-D Two of my favorite people!!!

More news! ..... I put the deposit on ceremony/reception site today. It feels good to have that set in stone. I kept putting it off because I was afraid of making the final definite decision .. but I absolutely had to do it before our date was gone. I'm glad I did.

We were previously doing the wedding at a good friend of ours house and we did tell him today that we're not using his place as well. That was hard because it was obvious he was disappointed. I explained that I loved his home and property and I would have done almost anything to have it there -- but that the expense was getting out of hand and that I was worried about the weather with no set indoor area other than a tent. He was very understanding, but his face also showed some disappointment. He and his partner will still being doing our flowers and our cake so I'm glad they still have a big part in our day.

On a completely SEPERATE note... we're having problems finding a bridesmaid dress. We thought we had found a good one, but it doesn't match my dress well so the girls didn't think we should use it. I'd prefer to find one at David's Bridal because then all the girls will get $20 off of their dress, but if we can find one somewhere else at a reasonable price ($120 or less), I'm sure it would be great as well ... bleh ... the hunt is still on.

For anyone that might feel like posting an idea .. The color it has to come in is a slate blue. (I kind of gray blue, silver blue, light blue... ish color) .. floor length. Could be with or without straps.

My gown is strapless .. beading and embroidery at the top and bottom. Looks like the bodice and skirt are seperate even though it's one piece.

ADR - That would be SOOO GREAT!!! .. We would absolutely *LOVE* to have you both! ... :) :D :)

babiesmiles - Thank you! :)

Quint - I couldn't agree more. We have to be a bit careful on expensive due to Ez and I needing to fund everything ourselves .. but it will still be amazing and beautiful.

If I haven't mentioned it before, the entire wedding will be decorated with wildflowers of different varieties... our florist is going full out with everything for the tables, the bouqets, the archway, etc. :) That's a part I'm very excited about.

Are you writing your own vows? We thought we were sneaky to include "to honor and respect" in ours...it's inscribed on the inside of his wedding band as well.

Forgot this part.. oops. We haven't gotten this far yet. :) We've discussed doing it a few different ways but haven't got a solid plan quite yet.

Just a quick update.. :) .. the plans are going great. I have a HUGE to-do list, but forunately have a lot of things done too! ..

In the last month I've finalized the flower plans with the florist, gotten a DJ, picked out the favors, met with the photographer, found an alterationist (though I need to do my first fitting), and searched a billion places for the right bridesmaid dress.

February the plan is to secure the JP, get the invites ready, buy thank you cards, get the engagment photos done, have my first fitting, buy the wedding bands, and ............ hmm.. something else. lol.

I'm excited and having a great time planning. :) Although it is definitely a bit stressful at times. Much love and hugs to everyone!

Ohh .. anyone who would like an engagement picture and/or announcement/invite mailed to you, send me your address! .. :)

ADR - I have Eb's, but I definitely need your addy the soonest you can PM me with it the better. Thanks sweetie! .. :)
