I had Webvan deliver my groceries today, and it was the coolest thing! The Internet rocks my world. Made a list on their website, set a delivery date & time, and bam! Instant food. Everything I ordered came all separated out - frozen foods in some bags, fresh fruits & veggies in another... The driver was amazingly courteous and helpful. Anyone else here order groceries over the web? Good experience or bad?

Never done it, Laurel, but the idea certainly has its appeal. How does the price compare to shopping for yourself? I imagine it's more expensive. Is the convenience worth the extra expense?

Definitely sounds like something a rich Republican would do, doesn't it? ;) Keeping secrets from us, Laurel?

My family joked that I would order groceries on the internet if I could since I buy everything else online. They were shocked when I said it was possible to do already. I'm just too cheap to do it. That and I like to pick out my own stuff as I walk the aisles.

Not everyone with money is Republican - only the greedy, short-sighted ones. ;)

It's not that much more expensive, really. If you have a fixed schedule and taking 1-2 hours out of your life to drive to the grocery store is a hassle, it's definitely worth it. I'm lucky enough to be self-employed, so my schedule's fairly flexible, but I have a friend who works long hours in sales and she loves WebVan. When you schedule a delivery, it comes within a one-hour time frame, so she can set it up for the evening when she knows she'll be there.

I just can't see not being able to handpick my fruits and vegetables myself

LOL! My driver was good looking as well...not my type, but nothing I'd kick out of bed on a cold night. *ouch, Manu, let go of my ear!*

I think I'm working toward that. I already shop for clothes and household stuff over the Net. Now groceries. The only time I leave my house is to take our daily walk on the beach. Monday I have to take our car into be serviced. If I could figure out a way to do that over the Net, I would be the true misanthrope I yearn to become.

Where The Heck Are You From?

San Diego County, California, baby. Home to sun, surf, and school shootings. How's the weather in your area, you wild Canuck you?

You guys better shop up a storm because the business news I've come across suggests WebVan might be one of the causalties of the E-commerce shakeout. It seems like a great service, especially for really busy people. Since I have too much time on my hands anyway, going to the grocery store adds some excitement to my life. That and Literotica!

Laurel...

remember this?

I won't be sucked in by another one of your internet passions. *grin*
